WATCH: Paul Gosar Evades CNN Over Charlottesville Conspiracy Claims

When CNN confronted Rep. Paul Gosar for his claims of the Charlottesville rally being orchestrated by the left and Obama sympathizers, he fled the scene, calling the news channel "fake news."

The Arizona Congressman made baseless claims during an interview with VICE News, in which he said that the entire plot was a "false flag" operation created by the Left. Gosar also accused billionaire George Soros, a Hungarian-born Jew who survived Nazi occupation, of funding the white nationalist rally.

"It’s come to our attention that this is a person from Occupy Wall Street that was an Obama sympathizer," said Gosar referring to Unite the Right rally organizer, Jason Kessler.

Gosar also said that Soros "turned in his own people to the Nazis." When asked if he thinks that the billionaire-funded the neo-Nazis who participated in the rally, he answered, "Wouldn't it be interesting to find out?"

But none of those allegations hold up. They were proven false, and it is believed that conspiracy theorists derived their claims from radio show host and conspiracy theorist Alex Jones of Infowars.

Soros is a Democratic supporter who was born Jewish in Hungary in 1944. Conspiracy theorists twisted Soros's historical profile by turning him into a traitor who collaborated with the Third Reich to turn in thousands of Jews, when in fact, Soros's father told him to pretend to be Christian to avoid being killed in the Holocaust.

A spokeswoman for Soros's foundation, Open Society, issued a statement refuting the lie:

He was 14 years old when the war ended. He did not collaborate with the Nazis. He did not help round up people. He did not confiscate anybody’s property. Such baseless allegations are insulting to the victims of the Holocaust, to all Jewish people, and to anyone who honors the truth. It is an affront to Mr. Soros and his family, who against the odds managed to survive one of the darkest moments in our history.

As for the person who organized the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Jason Kessler did attend one Occupy event, and he also voted for President Obama. However, he became opposed to Obama's Democratic views during his second term and became aligned with white nationalist ideology. "Obama sympathizer?" Not so much, lately.

After failing to get Congressman Gosar as a guest to explain his comments from the VICE interview, CNN finally had their chance to confront him on Thursday while the House was back in session. The exchange between Gosar and reporter Randi Kaye was extremely awkward.

Looks like there's another witch hunt.

"My proof will be coming," said Gosar, telling Kaye to refer to his website. Kaye replied, "It's all been debunked," but he vehemently denied it. "It's not been debunked. Absolutely not debunked, whatsoever. So stay tuned."

“You’re not real news, you’re fake news,” he hissed while making his exit. "You might want to do your due diligence and check out my website. You'll be surprised." His aide chanted "fake news" thrice before the pair made their awkward descent down the stairwell.

'Fake news?' Now that's hypocrisy.

Do they run background checks?

There was no substantial proof of his claims promised by the Congressman when Kaye looked into his website later in the day.
