Whoopi Goldberg Shuts Meghan McCain All The Way Down During A Heated Exchange On 'The View'

Whoopi Goldberg Shuts Meghan McCain All The Way Down During A Heated Exchange On 'The View'
The View/ABC

Meghan McCain learned the hard way that if you try to sass Whoopi Goldberg, she's going to put you in your place.

As a mother and grandmother, Goldberg has experience dealing with tantrums.

During a particularly tense segment on Tuesday's episode of The View, things were getting heated as the co-hosts discussed national security—particularly Fox News pundits' questioning of the patriotism of Army Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, the top Ukraine expert for the National Security Council who is set to testify in the impeachment inquiry.

As things heated up and the co-hosts all started to speak over each other, Goldberg, the show's moderator, stepped in to try to bring back some semblance of organization to the chaos.

Goldberg interjected:

"Ok, everybody, just take a breath."

But before she could get a chance to reset the debate, McCain was already talking over her, which Goldberg took issue with.

"Hold on, let me just finish what I'm saying so that I can just say: Everybody has something to say at the table. We really do want to hear from everybody, but we're starting to do that thing."

Goldberg made a clashing motion with her hands.

McCain coyly responded:

"I don't know what that means, this thing."

Goldberg bluntly replied, giving McCain a withering look:

"It means you're talking over each other."

After a tense moment of silence, McCain quipped:

"Well, it's 'The View'."

But Goldberg was having none of it.

"It is 'The View,'" Goldberg agreed, before adding:

"You know what, let me tell you something about 'The View.' This show has always had the ability to have different points of view, which we respect around the table."
"And when we talk to each other we also exhibit respect. So when I'm saying to you 'hold up because we're not hearing each other,' I'm not trying to cut you off."
"I'm trying to get you HEARD."

But when McCain once again began to interject and talk over her, Goldberg was officially over it.

"We'll be back," she said to the camera, cutting to commercial before McCain could argue any further.

The smackdown didn't go unnoticed on Twitter.

Whoopi is not to be trifled with.

Hopefully McCain learned a valuable lesson:

Don't come for Whoopi, or she'll put you in your place.

Before she became a talk show staple, Goldberg had several award winning comedy specials including a stint on Broadway. But it is her performance in The Color Purple, available here, that garnered Goldberg accolades for her acting prowess.

Trump Gets Brutal Reminder After Shaming Former Counterterrorism Chief For Remarrying Too Quickly After Wife's Death

President Donald Trump was given a blunt reminder of his own past after he shamed Joe Kent, the former National Counterterrorism Center director who recently resigned over the war with Iran, saying Kent had remarried too quickly after the death of his first wife.

Kent, a former Green Beret and political candidate with ties to right-wing extremists, was confirmed last July in a 52–44 vote to lead the National Counterterrorism Center, where he oversaw efforts to analyze and detect terrorist threats.
