NewsNation Washington correspondent Kellie Meyer got a big surprise right before her live report—and it was all captured on video.

A reporter outside the White House had an unexpected brush with local wildlife moments before she went live.

NewsNation Washington correspondent Kellie Meyer was ready to deliver developing stories of the day when a bird flew into the frame and landed on her head.

The sneaky head clamping startled Meyer, who crouched down and shouted, "Oh, my God," before the avian video bomber flew away.

She turned around to see the mischievous aggressor, which had then flown out of sight.

Meyer quickly composed herself, fixed her tousled hair, and assured the crew she was okay while still giggling slightly.

Meyer kindly shared her humbling moment on her socials.

"He really just wanted to tune in," she wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Viewers shared their thoughts.

She also shared the clip on her Instagram, explaining the exact moment of the encounter, saying:

"So this happened today. 🐦⬛🐦⬛🐦⬛"
"The White House birds are on another LEVEL."
"This happened RIGHT before my final hit of the night with @lelandvittert at 7pm et."

She added:

"It’s been a long day, time to call it a night 🤣 see you on @newsnationam"

Meyer didn't see a bird encounter coming that day, but when you're a live journalist, it's best to be prepared for anything. She recovered like a pro.

Former GOP Senator Gets Brutal Wakeup Call After Criticizing People For Playing 'Candy Crush' Instead Of 'Making Babies'

Ben Sasse represented Nebraska in the United States Senate from 2015 to 2023. As a Midwestern moderate, the sometimes controversial Sasse was often critical of MAGA Republican President Donald Trump on social media and on the Senate floor.

At one point, the Nebraska GOP censured him because of his criticism of Trump. But Sasse, like Maine Republican Senator Susan Collins, would still vote with the majority of his party when his vote was needed to back Trump's agenda.
