It's always great to get compliments, it can be an excellent boost to one's self esteem. The things we get complimented for can vary pretty widely, though.

My beard. It's still a surreal experience for me, and it's been happening for years. Strangers stop me on the street, in bars, or restaurants. At least it seems to somewhat impress dates when random people walk up to compliment me. I just wish I had something to say other than "thanks".

Being easy to talk to. Which is ironic, because I actually don't seem approachable to many people at first--I have resting ahole face and I'm a kind of bigger, bearded dude. But I'm very friendly once the ice has been broken.

being extremely competent. Little does everyone know I'm a huge screwup but am good at responding to people promptly. They equate this with competency.

I get told a lot that I'm "mom goals" and always look pulled together. The secret is a really simple wardrobe - I could get dressed in the dark because everything goes together!
Same here. I'm a woman and people tell me it's got a nice timbre and makes them "feel like everything will be okay"
