Elon Musk's estranged trans daughter Vivian Jenna Wilson set the record straight about the tech billionaire's supposed liberal beginnings, alleging that his persona was merely a ruse and part of a “marketing scheme.”
Wilson, who legally changed her name and identity in 2022 when she was 18, interviewed with YouTuber and Twitch streamer Hasan Piker, who asked her what the "transition was like for your dad to go from a liberal darling…"
Wilson interjected, saying, "Not a liberal darling. I f'king know him," and confirmed that the Tesla CEO was "never on the left…it was a marketing scheme.”
Earlier in the interview, Wilson had touched on the online misconception that she was somehow responsible for Musk's pivot to far-right politicking.
“People think it's my fault," she said. "I cannot take credit for that, unfortunately."

She alleged that Tesla was a "Ponzi scheme," adding:
“I know he's been right-wing since at least 2016, but I don't think he was ever left-wing."
"People think that we live in a novel and that [my transition] is some tragic character motivation."
"This is not a novel. I am not the reason.”
People weighed in on the discussion.
The interview with Piker came a week after her Teen Voguecover story in which she discussed a range of topics, including being a trans woman in the current political climate, being the estranged daughter of the SpaceX co-founder, and her aspiration of becoming an influential Twitch streamer.
“I have a sharp tongue,” she told the magazine in her second-ever published interview.
She continued:
“When you spend all of COVID [lockdown] in online communities of queer people who are constantly getting into drama and trying to read each other, [you] learn how to make a response very quickly, and you learn how to be funny and snap at someone else in a comedic way..."
"Getting into fights with other queer teenagers—that's how you learn how to be quick and witty.”
Social media users praised her for being outspoken and refusing to be pushed down by the transphobes online.
Wilson continued, telling Piker how the COVID-19 pandemic may have been responsible for Musk's right-wing extremism when he downplayed the severity of the pandemic.
“One of the last interactions we ever had was arguing about wearing a mask,” Wilson recalled. ”He sent me this gif of a sheep and said, ‘Stop being sheeple.’ It was cringe."
Musk was slammed for spreading misinformation about COVID-19 vaccinations and stating that the coronavirus panic was "dumb."
He also blamed the "death" of his trans child on the "woke mind virus" in a July 2024 Daily Wire interview on The Jordan B. Peterson Podcast.

She recently took to Bluesky and explained why Musk was so bitter about one of his 14 children identifying as female.
On March 9, Wilson explained:
“My assigned sex at birth was a commodity that was bought and paid for."
“So when I was feminine as a child and then turned out to be transgender, I was going against the product that was sold.”
“That expectation of masculinity that I had to rebel against all my life was a monetary transaction. A monetary transaction. A MONETARY TRANSACTION," she added in a follow-up.
Musk has 14 publicly-known children with three different women (that we know of), and is a proponent of the “pronatalist” movement that encourages childbearing and a higher birth rate.
He has six children with his ex-wife, Justine Wilson, including twins (the eldest being Wilson) conceived through IVF in 2004, and triplets in 2006.
Musk and his ex, Canadian music artist Grimes, have three children together.
He also has twins born via IVF and a child born via surrogacy with Neuralink tech executive Shivoon Zilis.
On February 14, conservative influencer Ashley St. Clair came forward to announce that she gave birth to Musk's five-month-old, which he has not publicly commented on. She claimed that Musk wanted their child kept secret for security concerns.
Musk later announced on February 28 that he and Zilis had their fourth child.
Musk's extremist views have sparked accusations of antisemitism, amplified when he gave what he appeared to be a Nazi salute at Republican President Donald Trump's inauguration.
He was also called racist after he began gutting DEI programs as the head of DOGE, a position created for him by Trump.
His troubled image eventually gave way to his Tesla and Cybertruck vehicles becoming subject to vandalism and being lit on fire at Tesla dealerships and charging stations across the country as forms of protest.
