As Russia's violent invasion of Ukraine continues, examples of civilians showing great bravery surface.
The latest example is an unverified video of a Ukrainian man carrying what looks to be a landmine from the road and into the forest—all while smoking a cigarette.
As reported by Indy100, the device is thought to be an anti-tank mine.
The civilian apparently moved it away from the road so the Ukrainian army could get by safely.
A Ukrainian in Berdyansk spotted a mine on the road and didn't wait around for a bomb disposal unit - at great risk to life and limb, he removed the mine, clearing the way for the Ukrainian military.pic.twitter.com/iC9ZTrixlC— The New Voice of Ukraine (@The New Voice of Ukraine) 1645972779
Dressed casually in jeans and a light jacket, lit cigarette dangling from this mouth, he holds the mine barehanded and at arms length, presumably to place the explosive somewhere it won't hurt anyone.
Since the start of Russia's aggression, Ukrainians have shown bravery and resilience. People around the world are supporting their willingness to fight to save their country.
Twitter users praised the man's bravery.
Shout-out to my dude filming it, too - he'd have been just as dead if it went off.

Man, why would ANYONE screw with these folks... absolutely nothing phases them. Centuries of fighting for their very existence will do that to a people, I suppose.— Medium Historian At Large 🇺🇦 (@Medium Historian At Large 🇺🇦) 1645976621
OK, I'm never "talking tough" again! That man is tough, I am not.— AJ🌻Sparks (@AJ🌻Sparks) 1645973235
Whoa. This is proof that the Ukrainian people are risking life and limb for the right to self governance. For freedom. It is both heartbreaking and breathtaking to watch.— Standing With Ukraine and it's People. 🇺🇸🇺🇦 (@Standing With Ukraine and it's People. 🇺🇸🇺🇦) 1645978725

Watching the war unfold has been sobering.
Many admitted feeling ashamed for taking their safety and freedom for granted.

keep seeing videos of Ukrainians and thinking "Wow" Then another one appears that makes me further feel like a jerk for ever complaining about anything in my life. good grief.— George Mitchell (@George Mitchell) 1645977452
I was feeling bad when I saw my stocks tanking yesterday, then switched to the news and I saw this guy and what the people of Ukraine are going through and I felt ashamed and stupid. Stay strong— Al D. (@Al D.) 1646000922
That's a different way of life. How many of us walking the streets here would know you could even touch one of those w/out them going off. And we have the balls to cry about mask mandates and mailing ballots.— c (@c) 1646010828
Whether this video is real or not, please be aware picking up a live mine or any explisive device is very dangerous.
In other words, don't try this at home.
Please everyone, don’t ever do this. Apart from the danger of the mine itself, if the RUS see people doing this they can place a grenade underneath with the weight of the mine holding the spoon in. Pick it up and goodnight sweetheart. Leave them alone.— Dan (@Dan) 1645976787
The video has yet to be verified, but there is no denying the Ukrainian people are facing a danger most of us are lucky to have never experienced.
