A conservative children's book publisher just posted a bizarre new advertisement on YouTube to promote a series of books dedicated to teaching a "different aspect of the principles of a free society" and the value of "free-market."
In other words, the book company spent just shy of two minutes denigrating socialist and communist ideologies that, according to the ad, are being burned into children's mind through schools and the media.
You can see the ad here:
The advertisement was promoting a book series called The Tuttle Twins, a series of 12 children's books that, according to the website, help parents contradict all the allegedly toxic economic instruction that happens in school.
"Each book in this series focuses on a different aspect of the principles of a free society: free markets, competition, individual rights, the non-aggression principle, personal responsibility, protectionism, and a variety of other issues—all boiled down to core concepts that children of different ages can easily grasp."
And to illustrate that supposed media brainwashing, the new ad took direct aim at none other than Peppa Pig, the long-running British cartoon series about a talking female pig.
According to The Tuttle Twins creators, Peppa Pig is a full-blown communist and she's poisoning the minds of children all over the place.
The new ad set the tone right away, showing a young boy wearing a Soviet Russia-style fur hat and shouting about "seizing the means of production."
Right away, the boy is scolded by his mother, who launches into a lengthy explanation about communist brainwashing in schools and the media:
"It seems a big part about being a mom these days is helping your kids unlearn the crazy ideas they're exposed to in the world."
As she speaks, she holds up a hand-drawn picture of Peppa Pig wearing Soviet Russian garb and hoisting a communist flag.
She goes on to share more of her concerns.
"Now, my kids are being told by the media and the school system that socialism is great."
The mother then explains The Tuttle Twins offer an antidote, teaching the "principles of freedom."
When people on the internet came across the ad, they were puzzled, to say the least.
what do these people think socialism is exactlyhttps://twitter.com/AdequateEmily/status/1417672243702816775 …— ultralaser (@ultralaser) 1626853937
Hahahahahahahaha. American conservatives are absolutely wildly delusional. Also the Tuttle twins is terrible with an audience of about 5 people.

Time for communist Peppa Pig memes again.https://twitter.com/independent/status/1417884169867235330 …— 💧 Lucas Noyes (@💧 Lucas Noyes) 1626886898

One of the discords I'm in alerted me to the existence of this ad and these books, and ... just ... wowhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QDo6pWoskjA …— Playhead North (@Playhead North) 1626897596
I also just learned about the Tuttle Twins books via a YouTube ad, so this day is just...lmao Good God.— Yale Stewart (@Yale Stewart) 1625342696
Looks like Peppa Pig has enough fans and rightwing propaganda children's literature has enough detractors, the new ad could make only so many ripples.
