Since President Donald Trump appointed him last year, Attorney General William Barr has been one of the most infamous faces of the Trump administration.
Barr misled the public on the contents of the Mueller Report investigating the Trump campaign's associations with Russian actors.
He gave the order to gas peaceful protesters at the White House this past summer in order for Trump to take a picture with a Bible in front of Saint John's Episcopal Church.
He appointed John Durham as Special Counsel to investigate the origins of the Russia investigation.
So it came as a surprise to some that Barr pushed back against Trump's false claims widespread voter fraud coordinated by Democrats tipped the election to President-elect Joe Biden. The Attorney General confirmed the Justice Department found no evidence of fraud that would overturn the election results.
Perhaps most shockingly, news broke Barr knew about a Justice Department investigation into Biden's son Hunter's taxes and concealed them for fear of the investigation being inundated with political speculation. Hunter Biden was a key talking point for the Trump campaign, and Trump has since said Barr should have alerted the public of them.
With only weeks left in his administration, Trump announced on Twitter Barr would be leaving his post.
Just had a very nice meeting with Attorney General Bill Barr at the White House. Our relationship has been a very good one, he has done an outstanding job! As per letter, Bill will be leaving just before Christmas to spend the holidays with his family...

...Deputy Attorney General Jeff Rosen, an outstanding person, will become Acting Attorney General. Highly respected Richard Donoghue will be taking over the duties of Deputy Attorney General. Thank you to all! pic.twitter.com/V5sqOJT9PM

Trump shared Barr's resignation letter, which heaped praise upon the President and said Deputy Attorney General Jeff Rosen would take on the role of Attorney General in the interim.
Trump's optimistic announcement was quickly roasted by Twitter users.
If you're gonna fire your attorney general for the second time, you might as well make it festive https://t.co/VRaT0gr9Iv

Trump's four years of incompetent management is capped by his toady Attorney General getting cut loose (or quitting; who cares?) only one month before the end of Trump's term.
We are lucky this joke of a presidency is ending. @realDonaldTrump @DonaldJTrumpJr @IvankaTrump https://t.co/zu9jXOSbeb

Tell the truth. Get fired. It's that simple.@realDonaldTrump is a filthy #racist scumbag criminal. Once completely unshackled, I supposed we'll be hearing a whole helluva lot from former Attorney General (DIS) Barr. https://t.co/oI0PdzDy84

Barr's willingness to finally stop drinking the kool-aid that creates the cult was his undoing. @realDonaldTrump has no loyalty to anyone and only wants those around him to pump his ego. Barr was no longer willing to do this! Trump's time is over. and so is his cult. https://t.co/CHMdhNdo43

Thereby proving that you can never be corruptly “loyal" enough for Trump. It matters not how much #AGWilliamBarr debased himself, his reputation, the office of Attorney General, or the law, it's #NeverEnough to satisfy the unethical and illegal impulses and actions of Trump. https://t.co/E3iRPwznm5

Attorney General Barr didn't escape their ire either.
Bill Barr ruined his reputation by deliberately misleading the public and politicizing the DOJ.
Because he wouldn't repeat Trump's lies about the election, he's out less than a month before Trump's presidency will end.
Trump used Barr and tossed him aside. Good riddance. https://t.co/qhmCVu0QxU

One disgrace will soon leave the DOJ building. Repairing the Department's traditions will be such an important and difficult task. But nothing is more important. https://t.co/R952rQypCN
