It's been nearly a year since former President Donald Trump lost the electoral college and popular vote to now-President Joe Biden, yet Trump continues to peddle delusions that the 2020 election was "stolen" from him through widespread voter fraud orchestrated by Democrats.
At a recent rally in Georgia, Trump railed against the state's Republican governor—Brian Kemp—for refusing to overthrow Georgia's 2020 election results, which saw Biden become the first Democratic presidential candidate in decades to win the state.
In the immediate aftermath of the 2020 election, Kemp—along with Georgia's Republican Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger—became pariahs within the Republican party for repeatedly confirming the integrity of the state's elections.
Trump called Raffensperger last year urging him to "find" the number of votes needed for Trump to gain the state's electoral votes and, at the rally this past weekend, Trump bragged that he'd also called Kemp, urging him to hold a "special election."

The former President said:
"I got this guy elected. One thing has nothing to do with the other, there's no 'quid pro quo' ... I said, 'Brian you know you have a big election integrity problem in Georgia. I hope you can help us out and call a special election and let's get to the bottom of it for the good of the country, let's to the bottom of it the good of your state. Let's go, election integrity, what could be better than that?' 'Sir, I'm sorry, I cannot do that.' ... Let me tell you, this guy's a disaster."
Though Kemp stopped short of condoning Trump's election lies, he and Georgia's Republican legislature have repeatedly worked to suppress the state's voters.
It sure seemed that Trump confessed to a crime onstage at the rally, prompting some to call for further investigation.

People are sick of Trump openly admitting to crimes without facing any consequences.
It's really infuriating to see him continually admit to attempting to overturn the election and knowing that there will be no consequences for any of it.https://twitter.com/Acyn/status/1441919784040296450 …— Paul Zurbrugg (@Paul Zurbrugg) 1632669831
When someone admits to a crime in public and faces no consequences, it encourages more criminal behavior—by that person, by others. Ignoring this kind of malignant bragging is dangerous.https://twitter.com/acyn/status/1441919784040296450 …— Ted Genoways (@Ted Genoways) 1632621189
