The comedian remarked about Trump's 'odor' to Mary Trump, who noticeably grimaced upon hearing the description.

Comedian Kathy Griffin recently shared an eyebrow-raising detail about former President Donald Trump during her appearance on The Mary Trump Show podcast, leaving Trump’s niece, Mary Trump, taken aback—and noticeably grimacing on camera.

Griffin delved into her encounters with Trump during her guest appearances on his reality show The Apprentice, pinpointing what she described as a distinctive scent emanating from the former President.

She vividly recalled a scent reminiscent of body odor coupled with fragranced makeup products, noting the detectable aroma of hair products even outdoors.

Mary Trump’s reaction to the candid revelation was palpable, and Griffin acknowledged the expression, urging that she was merely being honest.

You can watch what happened in the video below.

Griffin gave the following response when Mary Trump asked her about her time on The Apprentice:

"The Donald has a distinct smell that doesn’t really get enough press, it’s like body odor with kind of like a scented makeup products. But you can smell the hair products even outdoors."

When Mary Trump grimaced, Griffin added:

"Don’t make that face! I’m just being honest. I know."

To that, Mary Trump responded:

"Well, I don’t know. Maybe somebody needs to make a candle that said yeah, because that’ll fly off the shelves right Christmas right now."

Many were grossed out by Griffin's admission.

Mary Trump, known for her critical insights into her family dynamics and her uncle's actions, highlighted the pattern of behavior that she believes has characterized his career.

In 2020, she published a book about her uncle and family titled Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man, which became a nationwide bestseller.

She says in the book that she was the anonymous source who revealed the Trump family’s tax returns to The New York Times. The Times later won the 2019 Pulitzer Prize for its reporting on the matter.

Griffin herself has long criticized the former President but came under fire in 2017 after sharing a now-infamous photograph of herself holding a prop meant to resemble Trump's severed head.

The backlash cost Griffin marketing deals and her spot on CNN's New Year's Eve broadcast with Anderson Cooper. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Secret Service investigated her to determine if she was, in fact, a threat to the President.

Griffin later retracted her apology but the incident made the comedian—who has regularly courted controversy for her style of comedy—the poster child for "Trump derangement syndrome," angering many on the political right amid a national conversation on the limits of First Amendment rights.
