READ: Trump Tweet About Captured Terrorist Fails to Distract

President Donald Trump has not been having a good start to the week. Monday morning opened with the indictments of former Trump campaign manger Paul Manafort and his aide Rick Gates. Hot on the heels of their arrests, news broke that former Trump aide George Papadopoulos had plead guilty for lying to the FBI, and more importantly, has been communicating and cooperating with authorities since his own arrest in July. So when Trump tweeted yesterday news of a captured terrorist, he was hoping for a bit of distraction.

All Trump wanted to do this week was get people excited about the his Tax Reform, which he touts as the "biggest tax event in history." White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders even made a joke about it at Monday's briefing.

So yesterday morning Trump was quick to show everyone all the great things happening in America, all presumably thanks to his leadership. In other words, he wanted to remind everyone how great he is.

First, he tooted his own horn by sharing a White House statement released today, regarding the capture of a terrorist suspect: “Statement by President Donald J. Trump on the Apprehension of Mustafa al-Imam for His Alleged Role in the September 11, 2012 Attacks in Benghazi, Libya Resulting in the Deaths of Four Americans.”

But people had other opinions about Trump that were less than complimentary.

For starters, not everyone believed Trump had written his own statement.

This is not surprising, considering that presidents are known to have writers to draft their speeches and other correspondences. But then others pointed out that Trump has a troubled, inconsistent relationship with our troops.

Chad Kalland asked: "Let me get this straight. Troops catch a wanted terrorist & it was on your command. 4 soldiers die in Niger & you had nothing to do with it"

Another Twitter user was more blatant, claiming that Trump, who dodged the military draft five times, does not care about American armed forces.

Nor do some believe Trump cares about the widows and families of soldiers who died on failed missions the president conveniently does not take credit for. Instead he engages in a twitter feud with a congresswoman on the subject of his honesty and compassion.

Others though, were quick to call Trump's statement for what it really is: a distraction.

Perhaps Trump wasn't getting the feeling that the capture of Mustafa al-Imam was enough to appease Americans. By midday Tuesday, Trump was tweeting out separate reports that the economy, housing, and the coal industry are all on the rise, supposedly as proof that America is becoming great again under his leadership.

But many Americans are no longer fooled by these tactics: "Sorry, we can’t be distracted anymore. Has Mueller come for you yet?"

Speaking of...

All in all, Trump had a really busy day on Twitter. It really is a hard job being president. Trying to keep the American people happy, and distracted, is not easy. Sometimes you just need something good, to get your mind off of the bad things in life... Take it away, Sarah!

"There's always some reason, to feel not good enough, and it's hard at the end of the day. I need some distraction..."
