President Donald Trump was harshly criticized after he reposted an article on Truth Social from Turning Point USA activist Charlie Kirk with the headline "Shut Up About Egg Prices — Trump Is Saving Consumers Millions."
Throughout his election campaign, Trump repeatedly promised that his administration would take on high prices, even pledging to lower them on his very first day in office. However, the latest data tells a different story: Inflation in the U.S. has actually climbed since he took over, unexpectedly rising to a six-month high of 3% in January.
The price of a dozen large eggs soared to nearly $5 in January, an all-time high in the U.S. and more than two and a half times the average cost just three years ago, before the avian flu crisis. This represents a staggering 157% inflation rate for eggs, a staple and once-affordable source of protein for many American families.
And yet Trump made very clear how he actually feels about people's economic struggles, sharing Kirk's article, which was published in the far-right publication The Daily Caller, without any commentary.

@realDonaldTrump/Truth Social
Trump was swiftly called out.
This has a very bullying, Mafia tone to it, am I getting this wrong? Did Trump not promise that if you vote for him, he will bring down the price of not just eggs, but groceries in general? Now he's literally telling Americans "SHUT UP!" ? If I voted for him, seems to me I'd be very angry..

“Shut up” could you imagine Ronald Reagan the republican god telling Americans to shut up? Just that one “shut up” tells you everything you need to know about this man this party and how low life, white trash it’s become. How much lower are we going is the scary thought.

Because tRump doesn't have a clue what to do about the price of eggs, or anything else for that matter. He just doesn't want to go to prison (which is EXACTLY where he belongs!)

Exercising his only mandate I see

And now it's "Shut up about the economy. A recession is necessary in order to fix things." And also "Shut up about Social Security & Medicare/Medicaid; the need to go in order to fix things!"

We all remember that Trump won the election promising to double egg prices and smack the Canadians around.

Any word on how exactly he's saving consumers millions or do we need to shut up about that too?

January Trump: "prices will drop day one." March Trump: “shut up about egg prices!”

Of course, Trump has not said much, if anything, about lowering the cost of living or groceries, as he has often claimed he would do, though he admitted to Time that he can't actually do much about the matter at all.
His response to complaints about egg prices came just days after his Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins recommended that Americans who are worried about the high egg prices should raise chickens in their backyards, an unrealistic and costly non-solution that runs the risk of worsening the avian flu crisis.
