Trump Roasted After He Kept Trying To Say 'Yosemite' And Failed In The Most Awkward Way

Trump Roasted After He Kept Trying To Say 'Yosemite' And Failed In The Most Awkward Way

There's a new entry to the seemingly endless list of things at which to bemusedly shake your head when it comes to Donald Trump.

During an event on Tuesday, the President repeatedly struggled with how to pronounce the word Yosemite, rendering it first as Yo-SEM-ights--as in the Semites, a group of ancient peoples from which many Jewish people are descended--and then Yo-SEM-IN-ights, as in... well, honestly who knows.

And the internet is absolutely roasting him for it.

The gaffe came during Trump's prepared remarks—read from a sheet of paper—at the signing of a new bipartisan preservation bill.

The remarks made mention of several of the country's national parks, including Yosemite.

But things didn't go quite as planned.

"When young Americans experience the breathtaking beauty of the Grand Canyon, when their eyes widen in amazement as Old Faithful bursts into the sky, when they gaze upon Yosemite's — Yoseminite's towering sequoias, their love of country grows stronger and they know that every American has truly a duty to preserve this wondrous inheritance."

Even the official White House transcript noted the error, rendering the President's remarks as "Yoseminite's [sic]," which means his malapropism will be in the National Archives for the posterity of future generations.

So that's fun!

As Yahoo! News noted, this is far from the first time the President has misrendered common American place names.

In 2016, he made a great show of telling Nevadans how to pronounce their state name.

"Neh-VAH-da... When I came out here, I said, nobody says it the other way. It has to be Neh-VAH-da, right?"

Wrong.

Or at least mostly wrong. The overwhelming majority of Nevadans say "Neh-VAD-a." (Hopefully that didn't make the President too sad-a.)

Never one to be outdone, though, this hasn't stopped the President from continuing to mispronounce the state name, as recently as yesterday.

The President has also struggled with the state of Oregon, which most Oregonians pronounce ORE-uh-ghin.

The President though, always a maverick, chooses ORE-uh-gone most of the time.

Given this proud history of geographical malapropisms, it should come as no surprise that the internet was merciless in its roasting over this whole "Yo-Semites" thing.

No word as of this writing on where Trump falls on the Colo-RAH-do/Colo-RAD-oh debate or whether he pronounces the ending "s" in Arkansas or Illinois, but it seems likely we'll find out eventually whether we want to know or not.

Comedian-turned-MAGA bro podcaster Andrew Schulz has gone viral after sharing during a conversation on The Brilliant Idiots with Charlamagne Tha God that ongoing ICE raids were his "breaking point" with President Donald Trump and that liberals were right about the threat Trump poses to democracy in the U.S.

Schulz previously played a significant role platforming Trump, who appeared as a guest on the Flagrant podcast in October 2024 during his presidential campaign, an episode that racked up 9.6 million views and sparked backlash against Schulz, who was branded by some as “a right-wing MAGA lunatic.”

Philly Woman Goes Viral With Her Totally Chill Reaction To Her Car Being Completely Frozen In Ice

While the Northeast battled winter weather, the internet was captivated by a Philly-based TikToker documenting how her car turned into what she jokingly described as a Snowmaggedon popsicle.

Last week, Tianna Graham shoveled out her 2016 Honda Civic and drove out after a snowstorm, took it to work, and parked it in the same spot she’d left it before: next to a water main. By the time she returned, her vehicle was completely encased in ice on the 1000 block of North Front Street in Philadelphia’s Fishtown neighborhood.

Dad Sparks Heated Debate After 'Nice Note' He Left For Wife And Kids Before Work Trip Sets Her Off

When a person becomes a parent, much more will change in their life than they anticipated.

But that transition can be especially hard when a person feels like they're losing themselves to their role as a mom or dad—and that feeling is made even worse when their partner hyper-fixates on their new role.
