Former President Donald Trump was widely mocked following a misstep during his rally in Green Bay, Wisconsin, on Tuesday that undermined his own anti-immigration message.
Trump, who intends to pursue an even more aggressive anti-immigration agenda if he secures a second term, made a notable gaffe, stating:
"If your constitutional rights have been violated, we will defend you. If you have illegal aliens invading your home, we will deport you."

Trump was swiftly mocked by social media users.
Trump has said he will move to “immediately stop the invasion of our southern border” and end illegal immigration. He has said that, in the event he wins the 2024 election, his administration "will begin the largest domestic deportation operation in American history."
As part of his strategy, he intends to immediately instruct U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to execute the most extensive domestic deportation operation in American history.
His focus would be on individuals legally residing in the United States but suspected of having "jihadist sympathies," and he would also revoke the student visas of those expressing anti-American and antisemitic sentiments.
To fortify the U.S.-Mexico border, Trump proposes relocating thousands of troops currently deployed overseas and reallocating federal agents, including those from the Drug Enforcement Administration and FBI, to immigration enforcement duties. Additionally, he advocates for the expansion of the border wall.
In an effort to dissuade migrants, he has proposed ending birthright citizenship through an executive order. This order would introduce an untested interpretation of the 14th Amendment, preventing federal agencies from automatically granting citizenship to children born to individuals who are in the U.S. illegally.
Under this plan, at least one parent would need to be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident for their children to qualify for passports, Social Security numbers, and other benefits.
