Donald Trump Jr. decided to insult Peter Dinklage after the latter called out Disney for supporting damaging stereotypes in their live action Snow White remake.

This inevitably led to backlash against the deeply unpopular eldest so of Donald Trump.

It all began when Dinklage asked how Disney was still making the “backwards story about seven dwarfs living in a cave together.” Disney has since responded, saying they are consulting with members of the dwarfism community for the project.

And apparently Trump Jr. just could not stand that.

Disney first announced the live action Snow White project back in June 2021. Since then, they’ve announced a few key casting choices, including the breakout Columbian/Polish star of West Side Story, Rachel Zegler as Snow White.

Despite this seemingly progressive move by Disney, Dinklage spoke on Marc Maron’s podcast, saying:

“No offense to anything, but I was a little taken aback … They were very proud to cast a Latino actress as Snow White, but you’re still telling the story of ‘Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs.’”
“You’re progressive in one way, but you’re still making that f***ing backward story of seven dwarfs living in the cave. What the f*** are you doing, man? Have I done nothing to advance the cause from my soapbox?"

After the story went viral, Trump Jr. decided to chime in, though no one wanted that.

Trump Jr. responded by calling the whole situation ridiculous and that implying that Dinklage was okay with the dwarf jokes in Game of Thrones.

However, Dinklage has often used his celebrity to speak on the effects of prejudice against people with dwarfism. The media is a part of the problem.

On top of that, the insinuation that the jokes about Tyrion Lannister’s dwarfism were okay in Game of Thrones because Dinklage was getting paid, fail to understand the point at all. Those insults in the show were meant to demonstrate how backward that society is, on top of presenting how the other characters write off and underestimate Tyrion.

Even then, Dinklage still spoke out on issues in the dwarf community during the show.

However, Trump Jr.’s attacks on Dinklage’s comments shouldn’t be surprising. Any attempt to improve people’s treatment gets called “woke” by conservative pundits and insulted for no reason other than preventing things from getting better.

Which is why many online felt it necessary to call out Trump Jr.

By now, Trump Jr. should be used to having dumb opinions thrown back in his face. Just earlier this month, he tried to make fun of House Representative Eric Swalwell from California.

However, it didn’t quite go as planned.

Citizens of both Greenland and the Faroe Islands are full citizens of Denmark.
