A woman on TikTok is warning viewers against getting veneers after claiming hers have cost her $80,000 and '24/7' pain.
TikToker @wiintrr was in tears as she began her video.
"I know that I look crazy, and it's so embarrassing to come crying on the internet, but this stuff that I have been dealing with for two years because of my freaking teeth..."
"I don't even know what to do anymore."
She further explained:
"Two years ago, I had dental work done...and it ruined my life."
"I'm still dealing with it to this day."
The TikToker then shared that she was feeling "overwhelmed" as she just finished up with her fourth TMJ (temporomandibular joint dysfunction) doctor.
"The dental industry in America does not care about what you are going through."
"Everything is about money for them."
That's when the creator revealed she has spent around $80k so far over the last two years for both the initial procedure and subsequent visits after she began suffering from TMJ, which causes pain and stiffness around the jaw, difficulty chewing and clicking and locking of the jaw.
And because the initial procedure was cosmetic, it isn't covered by insurance—nor are the issues it ended up causing.
She continued:
"I spent so much money with so many doctors, just praying something works for me."
"And nothing works, nothing ever works. I don’t know what to do anymore like I can’t even sue the freaking dentist."
The TikToker added that the dentist offered to refund her initial payment, but she refused because she wanted to spread awareness. Also, she said because what she is experiencing is unheard of, there is no way of diagnosing her or even proving the dental work is what caused her discomfort.
"My life is literally ruined because I had my teeth redone."
She also claimed she has "tried everything" to lessen the pain after 10 different dentists and "100 bite adjustments" proved unsuccessful.
"I've done integrative medicine. I've done acupuncture...I've done hypnosis."
"I just don't know what to do."
"I'm in severe pain."
