Guy Goes to Hilariously Extreme Lengths to Hide Pool He Built in His Basement from Inspector

TikToker Matt D. was intent on convincing officials in Mudbone, Kansas, that he did not actually build a swimming pool in his basement.

Any place is a good place for a swimming pool, right? Those were exactly the sentiments of a Mudbone, Kansas, man who built a swimming pool in his basement.

TikToker Matt D. also known as @kc_mattd decided he wanted a pool in his home, so naturally he got to work building an indoor pool in his basement. The story doesn't end there; Matt D. awed millions of viewers when he documented not only how he fashioned a pool in his basement but how he managed to evade being caught by authorities.

You can see the TikTok here:

The TikToker can be seen on video laying the concrete and digging up ground in his basement, but it wasn't long before officials smelled questionable activity nearby and busted him on a code violation. Matt D. of course wasn't going to let some little law get in his way. Instead, he got to work disguising his pool after receiving a letter from the city that his house was to be inspected by officials.

A city official? Definitely no match for Matt D.

So, the TikToker drained the pool and created a golf simulator in its place, which viewers agreed looked a bit too legit to be a disguise but according to Matt D., it was meant to be a pool and a pool it would be.

So, as an entertaining but unnecessary cherry on top, in addition to his perfect golf playing station, he also wined and dined the inspector and his girlfriend, ensuring an easy "pass".

In the video the inspector can be seen getting drunk at a three-hour long Chief's football game while Matt D. laughs in an RV and later dances with the inspector's wife. Matt D. calls the inspector "an idiot" after seeing him drunk and face planting into a table.

An even more important question is: now that the inspector has sobered up, can't he see the video? Several tweets made that exact point. Even so, it looked like the TikToker was so confident of his plan he couldn't have cared less.

And to no surprise of his own, Matt D. passed the inspection, deconstructed golf simulator, and resumed the build on his pool.

However, not everyone was fooled or even bought the story. Viewers were impressed to say the least but, skeptical. Though we see pictures of the pool we don't actually see footage of Matt D. swimming in it.

Some didn't believe the pool was ever a pool at all. A few thought the golf simulator was too good to not be true.

Some didn't believe the pool was real in the first place saying that Matt D. used photoshop and stock images. Commentators definitely did their due diligence of poking holes in Matt D.'s story.

So where does that leave the story now? Well, with Matt D. in the "pool" he may or may not have, but in case the pool appears or disappears anytime soon, we can be sure TikTok will keep us posted.
