Guy's Ingeniously Petty Hack For Keeping People From Cutting Across His Lawn Sparks Debate

"Hey you kids! Get off my lawn!" You've probably used this phrase before. It's a universal indicator that you are calling the person you are referring to old and grumpy. But really, going on someone's lawn can case a lot of problems.

Some people very much ARE that stereotype--but most people just want others not to cause unintentional damage to their property. And some people, like TikToker @tgunz81, known as Thomas Lyons, go to harmless, though direct lengths to avoid strangers cutting across their lawn.

Despite the hilarity of several people being surprised by an automatic, motion-activated sprinkler in the middle of the yard and running from the machine before they got wet, not everybody thought this prank was in good nature.

However, not everybody agreed with this point of view.

"Had someone do this in our yard. Tried to sue us bc they tripped in a hole my dog dug & fractured their ankle," said user @pooch_skylar_luna.

"Keep spraying them down."

Others still pointed to the hidden costs of owning property.

"It isn't just about walking on the grass. We owners have to clean up the garbage they drop, replace grass that is killed by constant foot traffic."

Thomas followed up soon after with a video that showed the extent of the foot traffic before the sprinkler.

"Asked nicely everyday to stay off the lawn but people just keep coming," he wrote.

Even more people came to his defense in the comments of the new video.

"If the BIKES didn't make you mad, I don't know what will," wrote user @Alyseigjenna.

"I'd be livid if I saw people walking through my yard, let alone riding bikes through it."

Thomas Lyons' and his friends' solution to getting people off his lawn, though perhaps a little inconvenient or unpleasant, has no chance of hurting any of the people involved--making it a solid solution to the problem.

People in that neighborhood will just have to find another shortcut for now.
