The video shows an officer and a driver escorted out of his car. She first asks if he's recording her.

Then she immediately goes into asking if the driver has "anything from Texas" in reference to his driver license.

He responds:

"I don't carry a license from Texas."

The officer then says:

"So you're driving without a license from Texas? That's another violation."

Commenters online couldn't believe what they were hearing.

The two in the video go back and forth over the document provided to the officer.

She asks if it is a license, and he asks if she can read.

The officer then asks if the man can understand English, trying to get him to answer her question directly.

Those who commented kept making jokes at the officer's expense.

However some commenters couldn't tell from this short video who was right and who was wrong.

There are statutes in Texas that would require the driver to have a valid Texas license, like if they've been a resident of the state for more than 90 days.

So based on this limited information, the officer may have been right.

However, finding the full video provides a little more context. The video, posted at the start of August and shows the interaction from start to finish.

Driving while Mexican 🤦🏻♂️www.youtube.com

The driver provided the officer with their driver license from Mexico as they were just visiting Texas. This is legal under Texas law.

The driver was rude and antagonistic toward the officer, but at no point in the video did they provide false information about their license.

While we can't recommend being as rude as the driver was in this video, we would say the officer might be better suited reviewing Texas statutes surrounding out-of-state driver licenses.
