Music artist Taylor Swift's new app, Swift Life, launched on Friday in the Apple iOS store. It was meant to allow her fans to communicate with each other, giving them a safe place to socialize and also worship Taylor. But the Taylor Swift app flooded with a legion of homophobic Donald Trump supporters, as they plunged the new social networking platform into chaos.
Conversations about Taylor and her music were quickly drowned out by those defending, and justifying, their love for Trump.
In a since-deleted post from the app, a fan known only as Britt wrote: “Republicans and Trump supporters have just as much a right to be here as everyone. There are people who voted for him or may vote Republican but didn’t vote for him. They may not agree with his beliefs but at least he supports our troops. Sorry, but everyone has a right to vote for whoever they want.”
More homophobic and Trump-loving comments were made.
More controversially, another wrote: “I just don’t accept gays, lesbians, and bisexuals.”
Taylor's fans reacted and commented on the posts via Twitter.
First of all... she has an app?
It controversy quickly became viral.
Some people are not surprised that many of Taylor's fans are also homophobic Trump supporters.
She has never denounced them.
Of course, many of her fans refused to believe this was happening.
The fans defended and even attempted to minimize situation.
Was her social community app invaded by Russian bots and trolls?
Clearly, Taylor did not include quality control into the app.
Maybe she should hire some community moderators.
Nevertheless, their love for Taylor is unending.
It's not Taylor's Fault -- she's a force of nature.
Some of her fans tried to leave personal messages for Taylor to read.
Justin and Nolan... you know she's not reading this, right?
The issue has already been resolved, with the posts in question removed.
Some suggested later that this was all Fake News, and that it never happened.
Oh, how the mighty Swift has fallen.
Currently, the app is only available on iOS and not Android -- because there's less money in the latter.
