After a photo showing the ratio of men to women at a recent Jepsen concert went viral, even an Australian news outlet covered the confusion as to why so many men are fans of the singer.

A photo from a Carly Rae Jepsen concert recently went viral after straight people unfamiliar with the singer's mostly-gay-male fanbase voiced their confusion over the surprisingly high ratio of men to women in attendance.

The photo from Jepsen's recent concert in Rio de Janeiro was posted to X, formerly Twitter, from the account @LordeUpdatesBR.

You can see below.

The clueless comments came rolling in.

In fact, an Australian news outlet even reported on this phenomenon.

But those in the know were highly entertained.

You see, Jepsen began inching her way into gay icon status when the video for her 2012 hit Call Me Maybe dropped, featuring a surprise gay ending.

A few years later, the singer released her third album, Emotion, which featured some killer dance-pop bangers like “Run Away With Me” and “Gimmie Love," taking the gay community by storm.

And though the songs weren't mainstream hits, they made their way into the hearts of gay men everywhere, thus birthing Jepsen's cult following.

Jepsen's fans couldn't help but chuckle at the shock expressed over the viral concert photo.

A few years ago, Peter Knegt of the Canadian Broadcasting Company constructed a piece in which six men explained why they "really, really, really, really, really, really like" Jepsen.

One shared:

“Her songs recount stories of unrequited, fleeting and misguided love — facets of life I’m sure my gay brethren can all too familiarly relate to."

Makes perfect sense to us!

Trump Brags That He Got 'Highest Mark' Possible On Cognitive Test—And Here We Go Again

President Donald Trump was widely mocked after telling reporters that he's taken several cognitive tests because they're "not too tough for me to take," issuing his remarks in tandem with the release of his physical exam results.
