Life is made of moments.
Small moments and snap decisions.
One tiny step, that's where they say the process begins.
One step toward or away from something and a new path opens up.
Redditor Princess_Rulez wanted to hear about the tiny life choices that lead to huge changes for many, so they asked:
"What was a small decision you made that ended up having a huge impact on your life?"
Be Better
"One night, I felt so pathetic about myself. And I decided that when I woke up, I would make everything right. So when I woke up, I started running and cleaning my room. And then I did it every day because it felt good."
"Man, I am a much better person now. That decision made me go to the gym and hit the books."

Change of Scenery
"I decided to take a different route to work one day, just for a change of scenery. That's where I met my now spouse at a small coffee shop!"

Just one More
"Choose a University I would attend. On the way home from viewing the campus, my dad talked me into checking out just one more. I ended up choosing that university, and I met my wife there. One of the best decisions I made."
- Stayathomedadof6
"Similar-ish thing happened to me. I thought I wanted to go to a small school. My dad drove me around the state, looking at small schools. We went to a really nice one one day, which was about a half hour from one of the biggest schools in the country. My dad said, 'While we're here, let's go check it out.' Before we even parked, I said, 'I'm going here.'"
"And I did. I didn't apply anywhere else. Got in and had a great time, and made some of my best friends, I'm so proud of my school, and for all the dumb choices I've made in my life, I wake up grateful every day for having chosen that school. And for my dad's suggestion. He always just... knew these kinds of things."

Be Low, Not High
"I quit smoking weed after way too long. I feel better, and don't waste my entire day now and actually confront the issues in my life to solve them. I have significantly better physical and mental health. I spend more time with my family and friends, too, instead of sneaking away from everyone to get high by myself."

Thinking about Him
"Years ago, I took my toddler to a different park than usual. I just felt like driving a bit farther from home on a nice day. Very far off in the country. Encountered an 11-year-old boy with a freshly fractured radius and ulna. His arm looked like rubber. He had jumped off the top of the slide and collided with a friend on his way down. None of them had cellphones. I was able to stay with them, call an ambulance and his mom, and keep him calm until help arrived. He was so scared. Not a huge impact on my life, but hopefully a moderate one on his. I still think about him often."

Sing 2 ME
"Said yes to a dinner date on a weekday with a girlfriend of mine. We met up, and she pointed to a karaoke bar across from the restaurant. She wanted to check it out but I really wasn’t in the mood but I still said yes. I met my now fiancé there, I can’t imagine who I’d be dating right now or where my life would be without him. He’s belly laughing in the living room playing video games with his friends right now."

Ask the Rando
"Took the wrong train in a new city to a job a minimum wage job that I didn't want but needed at the time. Asked a random guy for directions when phone GPS still kind of sucked."
"He happened to be going in the same general direction. We rode a train together and nerded out on films we were into. He was an aspiring filmmaker (very beginnings of aspirations), and I was just a film nerd without any post-high school education or thought of 'breaking into the industry.' We ended up becoming roommates and collaborators eventually. Sold our first film to IFC about 2 years ago."

5 Years Later
"Five years ago, I made the decision to tell my ex-coworker that I liked him, and it was very scary to me because of social anxiety. Five years later we’re married, have a son, and another one on the way."

Walk On
"Walking away from things that aren't working. Sometimes ending a relationship or quitting a job is the right move for you, even if you've put a lot of effort into it or it will be painful. Life is short, there's no need to make yourself any more miserable than you need to be."

For the Dogs
"Decided to finally feed this wounded, starving, hairless dog on the side of the road- my fellow neighbor saw me and decided to do the same the next day. I then created a post, and I started a feeding spot for the dog where neighbors can give her food- I soon created a fundraiser for her. 2 months later, after bringing her to a shelter for treatment, she now lives with me and she’s the happiest I’d ever seen her. Melts my heart every day."

Another Chance
"Won tickets to a concert. Saw the only common fan I knew was my ex. 'The one that got away' messaged her on a whim. Married with a kid now 7 years."

The Break
"I kinda had a mental breakdown and quit my job the same day. I had never done that before and wasn’t really in a position to do so. I scrambled and got a job doing janitorial. I worked nights and cleaned for various places. One place happened to be a psych hospital. They ended up hiring me to work as a psych tech in their hospital and now I just started my first day of school and am on my way to get my BSN!"

Firsts
"I decided to eat lunch down on the patio in the middle of our office complex - which I never had before - instead of meeting my Dad for lunch like I often did as he worked pretty close to me. That was the day I met my husband, who also coincidentally went to the patio for lunch for the first time instead of with his office buds like he usually did."
- Scrapper-Mom
Don't Cave
"I told someone no. And had an amazing week when I normally would’ve been caving in from dishonoring myself by saying yes to everything."

Taking a chance is something that can lead to the greatest things in life.
In fact, life doesn't happen without change.
But many humans just can't help to be adverse to it.
So many of these people took HUGE leaps of faith. And those leaps paid off.
One small decision can lead to some fantastically massive outcomes.
Here's to leaping.
