A Woman Discovered The Purpose Of Those Shoulder Buttons On Coats And--What??

As we enter November, you've probably started seeing them more often. The little straps on the shoulders of coats and jackets—more clinically known as "epaulettes" or shoulder boards—have quite literally been fixtures of the most stylish of winter wear, adding a sleek sophistication and empowerment to any jacket.

In fact, these epaulettes look so good, we rarely question why they're there.

Nevertheless, one woman has given us an answer.

Stylish AND functional, the shoulder boards are perfect for keeping straps of bags from slipping off the shoulder.

With a revelation of such cosmic importance as this, many were amazed.

In fact, people couldn't stop talking about how they're constantly getting an education from Twitter users.

However, it's not surprising that the epaulettes would have a specific and efficient purpose, having originated with military uniforms. Yet even in military functions, the style factor can't be ignored: the boards are often used to show rank. Some pointed this out as well.

Regardless of whether or not holding bag straps in place was the intended purpose or not, it's clear that this Twitter user has found a way to save us from one of the most notorious everyday pet peeves.

InfoWars conspiracy theorist Alex Jones was openly tearful after Attorney General Pam Bondi claimed that the so-called Epstein files—documents related to the late financier, pedophile, and sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein rumored to contain the names of Epstein's most high-profile enablers—do not exist.

The claim that Epstein had no list of clients to whom underage girls were trafficked marks a public reversal of a theory previously amplified by the Trump administration.
