The actor opened up about a positive turn in her treatment for stage 4 breast cancer on her 'Let’s Be Clear' podcast on Monday.

During her Let's Be Clear podcast on Monday, Shannen Doherty shared a positive update regarding her treatment for stage 4 breast cancer, calling it a "miracle."

Toward the end of the episode, the actor opened up about her new treatment.

“I’m not gonna say what it is, I’m on a new cancer infusion and after four treatments, we didn’t really see a difference and everybody wanted me to switch, and I just kinda was like, ‘We’re gonna keep going with this and see.'"

She explained that the continuation saw positive results:

“And yeah, after the sixth or seventh treatment, we really saw it breaking down the blood-brain barrier."
“Do I call that a miracle? Yeah. For me, that happens to be a miracle right now."
"That I sort of rolled the dice and said, ‘Let’s keep going.’”

The blood-brain barrier is a physical membrane surrounding the brain and acts as a gatekeeper to determine what substances are allowed into the brain.

Doherty finished:

"... that it's actually breaking that blood-brain barrier is a miracle of that drug and a miracle of, you know, maybe God intervening and being like, 'I'm going to give her a break.'"
"You know, sometimes you're looking for miracles in all the wrong places and they're right there in front of your face."

People on social media were happy to learn of the hopeful update.

Doherty was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 and went into remission in 2017. But in 2019 she announced it had returned. Then last November, she learned the cancer had spread to her bones.

We are so happy to learn the treatment is yielding positive results!
