The response to the Fyre Festival documentaries on both Hulu and Netflix have garnered an exceptional critical response.
People are enamored by the extremely ridiculous circumstances surrounding the entire event; from Billy McFarland landing on Norman's Cayto Andy King's extreme measures to get Evian water out of customs, we are all just baffled.
Back in 2017, The Lonely Island tweeted that they were going to make a film about a music festival that went horribly wrong:
An idea that people thought was fantastic:
But now it looks like it may actually be happening.
The trio (Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer, and Jorma Taccone) told The Daily Beastthat a full-fledged spoof was in the works.
"I don't want to divulge all the details but we're figuring it out right now," said Taccone. "You've seen the docs, right? It's crazy. This is something that Akiva and Seth cooked up, and we're figuring it all out right now."
Other celebs have expressed interest in being cast in the film.
And some original cast:
But mostly people want to make sure Andy King is really in there.
Taccone himself is a huge fan of Andy King.
"I was like, I would hire that dude for anything … Hire that dude!" he said. "That guy is a champion."
There is no word yet on a potential release date for the movie.
However, if it is even half as ridiculous as either available documentary, it will be incredible.
