Yesterday, Sesame Street Tweeted a clip of Cookie Monster negotiating a contract to become a journalist. The result is painfully relatable.

The clip is captioned,

"Negotiating that new year salary increase like:"

It features Cookie Monster trying to negotiate his contract for a journalist position with his employers Big Bird and Abby Cadabby.

Cookie Monster tells the pair,

"If me take journalist job, we need to discuss salary, and benefits, and time off."

The cookie lover then remembers one last very important request for his contract.

"Oh, and retirement package."

His demands fall upon confused ears, resulting in Abby Cadabby proclaiming,

"We'll give you a cookie!"

Cookie Monster eagerly agrees and reappears in full journalist garb, ready to begin his new job.

The exchange has journalists laughing (though possibly through their tears) at the negotiation's accuracy.

But at least there's the silver lining of the ultra-important lesson the series is teaching.

Who knew Sesame Street would be known for its realism?
