Sean Hannity Spouts Bonkers Idea For How To Protect Every School And Mall, And People Are Making The Same Point

Sean Hannity Spouts Bonkers Idea For How To Protect Every School And Mall, And People Are Making The Same Point
Fox News // @lifeistooreal/Twitter

Far-right Fox News host Sean Hannity scrambled to defend the interests of the National Rifle Association in the wake of two mass shootings 13 hours apart in Dayton, Ohio and El Paso, Texas.

Rather than calling on Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) to bring to the Senate floor a gun reform bill passed by the House in February, Hannity offered another solution:

More guns.

Watch below:

Hannity said:

"I'd like to see the perimeter of every school in America surrounded, secured by retired police ... have one armed guard on every floor of every school, all over every mall, the perimeter and inside every hall of every mall."

He proposed that retired law enforcement officers volunteer 15 hours a week to guard schools and malls in exchange for exemption from income taxes.

But would a paramilitary unit at every mall and school even be effective?

Mass shootings have occurred at bars, movie theaters, office buildings, mosques, synagogues, churches, concert arenas, military bases, post offices, garlic festivals, and countless other places.

The internet didn't take kindly to Hannity's bonkers proposal.

People soon responded with metaphors to demonstrate just how illogical peppering retired police officers would be.

So much for small government.
