Extreme right-wing radio host Alex Jones recently offered to pay $120,000 per plaintiff to settle the lawsuit brought against him by the families of the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.
The plaintiffs assert Jones defamed them and their families with his claims the massacre didn't actually happen.
Unfortunately for Jones, the families quickly rejected his offer and the case will go before a judge.
BREAKING: In a huge loss for Alex Jones, the relatives of Sandy Hook victims REJECT his settlement offer of $120k each, calling it "a transparent & desperate attempt to escape a public reckoning under oath.\u201d RT TO THANK THE SANDY HOOK RELATIVES FOR HOLDING ALEX JONES ACCOUNTABLE!— Occupy Democrats (@Occupy Democrats) 1648615069
Only a few hours after the settlement offer was made, the families' lawyers released a statement, calling the move a:
"transparent and desperate attempt by Alex Jones to escape a public reckoning under oath with his deceitful, profit-driven campaign against the plaintiffs and the memory of their loved ones lost at Sandy Hook."
In November, Judge Barbara Bellis of the Connecticut Superior Court found Jones liable for damages against the families. Jones is currently awaiting a trial to determine how much he will have to pay.

The families faced harassment and even death threats from Jones' listeners in the 10 years since the massacre.
20 children in first grade and 6 educators were killed in the shooting. Jones repeatedly asserted the whole thing was a hoax perpetrated by liberals to undermine gun rights.
He has since admitted he believes the shooting did happen after faced with consequences for his lies, but the damage to the victim's families was already done.
Many online felt Jones should face the consequences of his actions in court.
They can say whatever they want now, but it doesn't "unsay" what Jones said and did. Jones and Infowars are owed no legal duty to settle a case and not see it adjudicated by a jury of Mr. Jones' peers as is the plaintiff's right under law. Jones recently failed to appear for two days of deposition related to the suit last week, causing the families to ask he be sanctioned or arrested for defying the court.
