Ryan Seacrest gave everyone a scare when he appeared to have a stroke during the finale of American Idol last Sunday.
He's since blamed "exhaustion" for his on-air moment, despite widespread fan speculation.
During the final episode of this season's American Idol, fans took to Twitter to comment on the airing of the finale.
Their focus honed in on Seacrest—who according to some fans—appeared to stumble over some of his words. One of his eyes also appeared to be more open than the other.
On Monday morning, when Seacrest did not appear on the Live with Kelly and Ryan morning show, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos hosted.
Ripa said of Seacrest's absence:
"[Ryan] worked late last night on 'American Idol', so he's taking the morning off."
Seacrest then returned to work as a host for the morning show on Tuesday.
He told viewers he needed to stay home on Monday due to his exhaustion, but he did not otherwise mention what happened on American Idol.
Seacrest said to Ripa on their show:
"I want to thank Mark [Consuelos] for filling in yesterday. He's so good at it, also, all the very kind well-wishes for my exhaustion, working around the clock."
Amid all the theories, Seacrest's representative said he has been overworked while adjusting to this "new normal," and the side-effects were reflective of that during the airing of American Idol.
The representative stated:
"[Ryan Seacrest] did not have any kind of stroke. [He has been] juggling three to four on-air jobs over the last few weeks and he's in need of rest. So … he took a well-deserved day off [from the morning show on Monday']."
"Like many people right now, Ryan is adjusting to the new normal and finding work-home balance, with the added stress of having to put on live shows from home."
Fans, however, don't seem convinced.
Some continue to question Seacrest's health.
Others still insist that he had a stroke.
Even just a "mini stroke" still warrants medical attention.
Whatever happened to Ryan Seacrest last Sunday remains a little unclear, despite the information that has been shared.
What is clear, though, is that this "new normal" is taking a toll on everyone, even if it manifests in different ways in each person. It's incredibly important right now to keep our health in check and try not to work ourselves to the point of exhaustion.
