Pikachu-adoring fans are going to PokƩmon GO into theaters to see their favorite character get the cinematic treatment starting May 10, 2019.

The highly-anticipated POKƉMON Detective Pikachu stars Once Upon a Deadpoolfunny guy, Ryan Reynolds, and is based on the video of the same name that is a spinoff of the popular PokĆ©mon franchise.

To tease fans, Reynolds upped his game in the vein of his usual Twitter antics by sharing a sneak peak photo from the production and giving Hugh Jackman a temporary hiatus from his ongoing trolling war with Wolverine.

Reynolds simply tweeted, "Pika-Dots" to accompany his new movie mug shot.

No, those are not freckles on his face. The constellation invading his visage is a series dots used to record movement for a process called motion capture. The information gathered from the movement is then rendered to animate a digital character—in this case, Pikachu.

Yes, Ryan Reynolds—a.k.a. the foul-mouthed Merc with a Mouth, Deadpool—will now play the lovable yellow rodent.

The frivolity on Twitter unfolded from eager fans looking forward to seeing the new film. The hybridization of two signature characters was particularly amusing.

The picture inspired other mashups.
