Following the death of controversial conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh on Wednesday, February 17, Rich Lowry, editor of the conservative news outlet National Review, took to Twitter to shame liberals who denounced Limbaugh's racism and bigotry without realizing how "funny" he was.

Twitter was quick to push back against Lowry's idea of "comedy."

Some of Limbaugh's most infamous running jokes included the celebration of gay men dying from AIDS and describing 13-year-old Chelsea Clinton as a "dog."

Limbaugh's antics taught many uninformed listeners that casual cruelty was the epitome of comedy.

Twitter thoroughly dragged Lowry for his ignorant defense of Limbaugh.

There's nothing funny about misogyny or racism.

While Limbaugh may have been a complex individual who cared deeply for the people in his life, his impact on public discourse was a largely negative one.
