Rosamund Pike Reveals She Wore Veil To Golden Globes To Cover Her 'Smashed Up' Face

The 'Saltburn' star told 'Variety' red carpet reporter Marc Malkin how a skiing accident caused her to seek out the veil, which ended up being one of the most iconic looks at the 2024 Golden Globes.

Rosamund Pike made quite the entrance at the 2024 Golden Globes on Sunday, turning heads with one of the evening's boldest looks.

The actor graced the red carpet in a stunning lace-layered vintage Dior dress with a matching black veil, which several people believed to be inspired by her Saltburn character Elspeth Catton.


And while many considered her ensemble to be one of the most iconic of the night, Pike revealed to Variety's Marc Malkin that her fashion choice was actually more of "a protective veil for the occasion," adding that a skiing accident left her face "completely smashed up."

She explained:

"Well, I had an accident over Christmas, actually. I had a skiing accident."
"Not what you want knowing you’re coming to the Golden Globes on the 7th of January."

Pike then shared that although her bruising was all but healed, she went ahead with the headpiece, anyway.

"I kind of fell in love with the look."

And severals fans warned her to stay off the slopes, with many expressing their relief that she was okay after her accident.
