Gordon Ramsay Cracks Joke About Vegans, & Backlash Was Swift

Gordon Ramsay Cracks Joke About Vegans, & Backlash Was Swift

To eat meat, or not to eat meat—that is the question.

Talk about poking the hornet's nest.

He's a world-renowned chef, a restaurateur, a reality television megastar, and now his notoriously loud mouth and his latest attack on veganism have garnered him a new moniker to add to his list: vegan troll.

Yes, the Simon Cowell of the culinary set has spouted off once again—this time via Twitter—and the results are as nasty as a dish prepared by the first contestant booted out of each season of Hell's Kitchen.

Here's the scoop:

When Twitter user Raymond (@savebrincess), asked Ramsay how his vegan lasagna looked . . .

. . . Ramsay didn't mince words (because he's too busy mincing meat!):

Oh no he didn't. Oh, yes, yes he did!

In the eyes of vegans, to repurpose the holy acronym of PETA (People for Ethical Treatment of Animals) is pure blasphemy and they didn't hesitate to dress him (and his meat-eating ways) down:

Ramsay is no stranger to angering vegans. He apparently relishes in making something of a sport out of it. In fact, it seems he has a reminder set in his calendar or something to annually make a negative remark about vegetarians or vegans—no doubt to stir up a little controversy—and possibly some publicity in the process.

In February last year, Ramsay tweeted this response to a now, removed tweet:

The prior year, in a tweet dated February 2016, Ramsay was asked by a fan on Twitter if he had any allergies, to which he replied:

So it's no wonder they're now out for blood . . . oh wait, they're vegans, so . . .um . . . no, they aren't:

Even PETA itself weighed in:

Eric C. Lindstrom, author of The Skeptical Vegan: My Journey from Notorious Meat Eater to Tofu-Munching Vegan—A Survival Guide, suggested Ramsay read his book:

But then a few non-vegans brought up some valid points of their own:

And some fellow carnivores were just thankful for Ramsay's support:

What do you think? Should Ramsay have made such an in-your-face, no-holds-barred statement, or should he have been a little kinder to the guy with the meatless lasagna? Talk amongst yourselves . . .
