QAnon influencer David Todeschini—known for accusing prominent Democrats of pedophilia—is a convicted pedophile himself. That fact made for a rather interesting confrontation between him and journalist Andrew Callaghan who interviewed Todeschini for his HBO documentary This Place Rules.
This Place Rules follows Callaghan as he travels across the United States in the months preceding the January 6 attack on the United States Capitol. It features interviews with individuals who—like Todeschini—are enmeshed in far-right, White nationalist and Christian nationalist conspiracy theories.
Todeschini is a faithful follower of QAnon, whose believers allege Democrats are part of a Satan-worshipping, baby-eating global pedophile ring that conspired against former Republican President Donald Trump during his time in office. He has baselessly asserted multiple prominent individuals—including Democratic President Joe Biden—are pedophiles.
But Todeschini obfuscated his own criminal history.
Footage from This Place Rules shows Callaghan confronting Todeschini about his own 1999 conviction of one count each of sexual abuse in the first degree and sodomy in the second degree for coercing an eight-year-old boy in New Jersey into sexual activity in 1996.
You can watch what happened in the video below.

At the top of the clip, Todeschini claimed then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other prominent Democrats "set up" the January 6 insurrection, which took place after a mob of Trump's supporters attacked the United States Capitol on the false premise the 2020 election was stolen.
He said:
"I think Nancy Pelosi and all of those people set all of that up. They had Antifa people going dresed as MAGA people." ...
"We've been living in a deception. It worked for a while until social media came along, and social media is the one that got Trump in, the outsider. And he's about as far from a pedophile as you're going to get."
"He's after these people and that's why they're after him."
Todeschini went on to claim Pelosi, billionaire media personality Oprah Winfrey, President Biden and actor Jonah Hill are all pedophiles when Callaghan presented him with their photographs.
The interview took an interesting turn after Callaghan pointed out the circumstances behind Todeschini's arrest:
"On May 19, 1999, you were convicted of sexual abuse in the first degree and sodomy in the second degree of an 8-year-old boy in New Jersey. So, according to this paper, you are a registered sex offender and a convicted pedophile."
Todeschini insisted he was the victim of a "false conviction" and declined to view the document detailing his arrest record.
He said he took a guilty plea because he "knew [he] couldn't win" while comparing himself to General Michael Flynn—the ex-national security adviser to Trump who pleaded guilty to a felony count of "willfully and knowingly" making false statements to federal agents.
Flynn resigned from the White House in disgrace after he provided false information about his communications with the Russian government, particularly after the news of his conversations with Sergey Kislyak—then the Russian ambassador to the United States—became public.
In May 2020, the Trump-controlled Department of Justice (DOJ) filed a court motion to drop all charges against Flynn and the criminal case against him was later dismissed. Trump later issued him a pardon and Flynn continued to generate controversy since avoiding prison time, most notably after he appeared to endorse an overthrow of the United States government.
Todeschini denied he was "projecting" his own crimes onto another when questioned by Callaghan.
The footage of Todeschini's interview soon went viral and prompted many to call out his hypocrisy.

Todeschini's projection underscores the hypocrisy regarding actual sex offenders within the right-wing.
Instead of addressing problems within their own ranks, the right-wing has capitalized on the ongoing "groomer" hysteria to attack LGBTQ+ people and their basic human rights.
Right Wing Watch, a watchdog group dedicated to monitoring and exposing extremist activities and rhetoric of right-wing activists and organizations, reported on Todeschini's conviction in 2021, noting he served five years in state prison and is considered a level three threat, according to the New York sex offender registry.
