Trump Uses Holiday Weekend to Attack FBI Officials on Twitter

President Trump started off his holiday weekend at his Mar-a-Lago estate by doing what he does best: tweeting criticisms.

This time is was yet another attack on the FBI and its credibility, specifically targeting deputy director Andrew McCabe, the second-highest ranking FBI official, over what Trump and many Republicans have deemed an unfair bias against Trump.

After a reported 16 hours of questioning of the deputy director by various House committees in relation to the Russia probe and the Clinton private email server investigation over the past week, Trump took the opportunity on Saturday afternoon to call into question McCabe's behavior.

"How can [McCabe], the man in charge, along with leakin’ James Comey, of the Phony Hillary Clinton investigation (including her 33,000 illegally deleted emails) be given $700,000 for wife’s campaign by Clinton Puppets during investigation," Trump said in a tweet:

The tweet references not only the Clinton email scandal that Trump has continued to harp on, but also the donation that the Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, a well-known Clinton ally, made to McCabe's wife's (failed) campaign for the Virginia Senate during the FBI's investigation. According to the Washington Post, McCabe alerted a department ethics official to the donation at the time. But it didn't stop Republicans from calling for McCabe's firing.

A few minutes later, Trump hinted at the possible upcoming retirement of McCabe in a follow-up tweet:

Then on Sunday, Trump decided to go after the reported reassignment of FBI general counsel James Baker:

While Trump attributed the breaking story to Fox News, the Washington Post was the first to report it, claiming it was an attempt by FBI director Christopher A. Wray to mix things up and to assuage concerns by Republicans that the FBI is too politically biased.

Republicans have been especially critical of the the FBI and the Justice Department as of late over what they have deemed bias against Trump in respect to the Russia probe, while Democrats have maintained their faith in the investigation, blaming Republicans for attempting to interfere with the investigation.

Many people on Twitter weren't too pleased about Trump's renewed attacks:

GOP Rep. Claims MTG's Resignation Could Be The First Of Many In Eye-Opening Rant

Georgia Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene—once the conspiracy theory-spewing, QAnon-embracing apple of MAGA's eye—announced on Friday her intent to resign and retire from Congress effective January 5.

In the wake of her almost 10-minute video announcement, an anonymous senior House Republican said many others in the party have also grown sick of MAGA Republican President Donald Trump and his incompetent, petty, glory-hogging administration. They cite Christian nationalist Speaker Mike Johnson as his primary enabler.
