P!nk Shows Britney Spears Support Amid Her Divorce With Key Lyric Change During Tour Concert

P!nk changed a lyric about Spears in her 2001 hit 'Don’t Let Me Get Me' while performing in Detroit following the news of Spears' impending divorce from Sam Asghari.

Pop star P!nk changed the lyrics to one of her songs during a live concert performance as an empathetic gesture to fellow music artist Britney Spears after news of her recent divorce.

Last week, Spears announced on Instagram that she had split from her husband of 14 months, Sam Asghari, whose birth name is Hesam Asghari.

Although she didn't go into details, the "If U Seek Amy" singer wrote:

“As everyone knows, Hesam and I are no longer together."
"6 years is a long time to be with someone so, I’m a little shocked but … I’m not here to explain why because its honestly nobody’s business !!!"
"But, I couldn’t take the pain anymore honestly !!!”

During the Detroit stop of P!nk's Summer Carnival Tour, she gave Britney some love by changing a line from P!nk's song “Don’t Let Me Get Me” from her second studio album, 2001's Missundaztood.

The lyrics originally read:

“Tired of being compared to damn Britney Spears."

But concertgoers at last Wednesday's performance heard a tweaked rendition in which P!nk ditched the disparaging descriptor for Brit.

Instead of singing "damn Britney Spears," P!nk sang:

“Tired of being compared to sweet Britney Spears."
“She’s so pretty. That just ain’t me.”

You can hear the bit in the clip below.

Britney fans expressed their appreciation for P!nk's support of their favorite singer.

P!nk and Spears hit it off and established a friendship when they teamed up with Beyoncé to sing Queen's "We Will Rock You" for the Pepsi Super Bowl commercial in 2004.

In an interview with People magazine back in February, P!nk addressed the criticism from Spears' fans about "Don't Let Me Get Me" while reflecting on her friendship with Spears.

“People think I was picking on Britney on ‘Don’t Let Me Get Me,’ but I’ve always felt like a big sister to her."
"I’m very protective of her, and she’s the sweetest person in the world."

While the two have not been recently in touch, she said of Spears:

"I wish her well. I cover her in light all day long."

Asghari recently addressed his separation from Spears and asked for privacy.

He wrote on social media:

“After six years of love and commitment to each other, my wife and I have decided to end our journey together."
“We will hold onto the love and respect we have for each other, and I wish her the best always."
"Sh*t happens. Asking for privacy seems ridiculous, so I will just ask for everyone, including media, to be kind and thoughtful.”

Liz Cheney Responds After Trump Says She Should 'Go To Jail' For Investigating Jan. 6 Attack

Former Wyoming Republican Representative Liz Cheney criticized President-elect Donald Trump after he told Meet the Press host Kristen Welker that Cheney and others on the House select committee that investigated the January 6 Capitol insurrection "should be jailed."

Cheney angered her own party and was ousted from her leadership position in the House of Representatives after she pushed back against Trump's falsehoods about the integrity of the 2020 election. She later served as Vice Chair of the House Select Committee on January 6, which resulted in her losing her primary to MAGA extremist Harriet Hageman, whom Trump endorsed.
