Photographer Left In Tears Upon Realizing He Just Accidentally Lost Couple's Wedding Photos

Photographer Left In Tears Upon Realizing He Just Accidentally Lost Couple's Wedding Photos

Justin Gummow recounted on TikTok the harrowing moment he realized all of the wedding photos were corrupted.

A wedding photographer suffered a true professional nightmare.

All the files of the pictures from a wedding he shot were corrupted.

He discovered this upon trying to transfer the photos from his professional camera to his computer.

The worst part? Having to tell the newlyweds, which he did.

The photographer detailed all the ways he tried to recover the data and eventually what he found as an ad-hoc solution on TikTok.

After trying many methods and hundreds of his own dollars trying to regain the corrupted files off the disk—including sending the disk away to a professional company—he finally found a minor solution.

He's using WiFi to transfer the JPEG previews from his camera to his phone and then to his computer.

For non-photographers, JPEGs are not the file type he would usually have, as he would usually edit photos in RAW format, which are larger files that allow for more fine editing. JPEGs are something, at least, though, a "Hail Mary" attempt, as he points outs in the video.

As this is a professional nightmare and many can empathize with this sort of situation, reactions were quick to come in.

Many people reacted viscerally to the incident.

Other photographers noted perhaps the photographer in question should have employed a 2-card backup solution.

Many people found his honesty and accountability as a good sign of someone to hire as a photographer, actually.

Here's hoping his solution was acceptable to the bride and groom.

Model Accuses Fashion Brand Of Using AI To Recreate Her Looks For Ad Instead Of Hiring Her

There used to be laws in place for someone's likeness being used without their consent, and most certainly if their likeness was being used in an exploitative way for profit.

But now with the rise of AI-generated photographs, advertisements, and other digital products, the lines seem to have become muddied between the illegal stealing of someone's likeness and AI "inspiration."

Employees in commission-based positions are feeling increasingly pressured to acquire new clients, retain previous clients, and solve the issues their clients call in about with high satisfaction ratings.

Even though tensions are high, and the pressure they're feeling may be unrealistic for any one person to take, that doesn't give them the right to mistreat people who do not want to sign up or want to cancel.
