You can never forget your childhood.

No matter how hard you might try to escape what's happened in the past, it'll always be there. Unfortunately, our minds work as traps, keeping the things we'd rather leave behind. This includes irrational fears we had as children that still haunt us to this day.

Reddit user, u/Mr-Zilla, wanted to know what chases you to this day when they asked:

What are some childhood fears that you never outgrew?

Just One Step Down From You

That there is something/someone chasing behind me as I run up the stairs.

kelllts

Jesus, I have never ever thought even once about that but you just made me feel a whole new level of paranoia

Spiders.

I know for a fact those malicious MF-ers are always looking for a way to jump on me.

There's Nothing There You Keep Telling Yourself

I'm still terrified of the dark even as I'm entering adulthood.

Mr-Zilla

Was going to comment this. I get comments like "you're so paranoid, no one's gonna break in" and I'm always just exasperatedly like "BUT THEY COULD AND YOU WOULDN'T SEE THEM!"

Worse Going Out Than Coming In

I'm still afraid of throwing up.

k-sean

I am old and I'm the same. I will bargain with God do anything to avoid it. It's a legit phobia.

I might as well be 3 years old.

Going For A Lovely Little Swim

I've always had an irrational fear of the car I'm riding in going off a cliff/bridge and into the water.

I still think that's how I'm going to die

There's A Deadline To When I'll Move

I'm in my twenties, and being alone in a house at night gives me the heebie jeebies. Usually fall asleep on the couch with the tv on, and move to the bed when the sun comes up.

-AliceOnAcid-

Oh god me too. I'm an adult male and I need to keep some light on to sleep if I'm alone. If there's someone else there, no problem.

These Feels Justified, Though.

Dogs. Especially large Dogs.

I was attacked by a German Shepherd when I was 9 and never outgrew it. Now I just don't trust dogs of ANY size.

someone is behind the shower curtain when i poop

chriiistopher

I just leave mine open. Not even a real fear for me, but it gives me peace of mind when taking a late night pee that I can see the inside of the shower.

Well, Obviously, You'll Be Sucked Down

I can't handle touching the drain in the bathtub or the shower or bottom of the swimming pool. Just a part of my body touching it makes my heart beat faster and I get anxious AF.

I never knew why until my mom admitted she was washing me in the tub as a small kid and joked with me not to get too close to the drain, as I'd get sucked down. I didn't laugh and apparently decided to develop a completely stupid phobia.

Still can't touch them!

Elon Musk's Attempt To Shame Heckler At His Wisconsin Rally Backfired Big Time

Billionaire Elon Musk was called out after he tried to shut down a protester during his Wisconsin rally on Sunday by invoking George Soros, only for people to point out that his criticisms were a bit hypocritical considering his own record of funding MAGA causes.

Soros—a billionaire philanthropist who has been the subject of countless conservative and antisemitic conspiracy theories for his support of progressive and liberal political causes—was Musk's first thought amid the ongoing Supreme Court race in Wisconsin despite the fact he is currently paying people to help sway the race.

White House Slammed After Turning Sobbing Woman's ICE Arrest Into AI-Generated Cartoon

The Trump administration sparked outrage after using the official White House X account to share an A.I.-generated Studio Ghibli-style cartoon to mock the arrest and deportation of Virginia Basora-Gonzalez, a Dominican migrant who had previously been deported from the United States after being convicted of fentanyl trafficking.

Basora-Gonzalez was arrested in Philadelphia by ICE for allegedly reentering the U.S. illegally. Seen in tears as she was taken into custody, the woman, a citizen of the Dominican Republic, had prior convictions for attempted possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and aiding and abetting.

MTG Dragged For Editing Tweet After Accidentally Including Hilariously Anti-MAGA Error

Georgia Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene was widely mocked after she shared a video on X in which she bragged about her "Gulf of America" bill but didn't realize she'd accidentally dropped the MAGA mask by referring to it by its proper name—the Gulf of Mexico—instead.

On his first day in office, President Donald Trump signed an executive order changing the Gulf of Mexico to the "Gulf of America." The order also reversed an Obama-era decision and changed the name of the Alaskan mountain Denali back to "Mount McKinley."
