People Explain Which Ingredients Completely Ruin A Meal For Them

No one's taste buds are the same. How many times has this happened to you, when a friend says, "You have to try this place! It's the best pizza!" And then, when you go and eat the pizza they said was the "best" pizza, it's just very average pizza? Sometimes the thing everyone likes isn't appealing to you, and that's okay.

Just go on the internet and talk about it.

Reddit user, u/Kumigarr, wanted to know what you can't stand in your food when they asked:

What's an ingredient that ruins any meal for you ?

All Guacamole Everywhere Hates You

The soap herb aka Cilantro

PapaLRodz

As someone who doesn't have the "tastes like soap" gene, I'll tell you that you really aren't missing out on anything. It's just a green plant thing where there doesn't need to be one.

redsol23

I've never known if I have the "taste like soap" gene because it doesn't taste like soap to me, just has a horrible flavour in my opinion. Either way, I don't think anyone is missing out on it!

brittfmcdonald

...Why?

Sugar in spaghetti sauce or chili.

I'm not a fan of sweet potatoes either but I will eat them.

Get That Sweet Out Of My Savory

Sweet things in savoury dishes. e.g. pineapple in stews (maybe that was just my australian aunt); sultanas in curry, etc.

CMDRTheDarkLord

cranberries in tuna salad. yuck.

They Offer Nothing Except Pain

Cardamom pods. Finding a surprise one in my biryani ruins my day.

shy-lonely-nerd

It's awful when you bite into them by accident. It's as if the chef (or my mum in this case) has betrayed me

MeshSailSunk

...Not, THIS Offers Nothing

Plain mayo. ie potato salads,

zmerz10

"Good news! I just invented a great new food. It's made by mixing potatoes and mayonnaise."

"I don't know, sounds unhealthy."

"Way ahead of you. We'll make it healthy by calling it a salad."

Noughmad

They Say I'm a Fungi

Mushrooms.

They taste like dirt. Rubbery dirt.

rowantrees

YES! Since my husband and I have been married, my food tastes have grown tremendously. He loves mushrooms. I cannot suffer through it.

Then The Juice Gets Everywhere And It's All Ruined

Pickles. What a way to spoil a good burger just a little bit.

sheeshbeans

Right. The juice just infects and ruins anything it touches.

WardenWolf

Sometimes I forget to say "no pickles" and my entire burger gets ruined :(

Your Fries Wanted To Be Showered In It

truffle oil

truffles are barely tolerable for me, i don't like that musty nuts flavor it adds, but truffle oil completely overpowers everything with only a little bit in it, and some places dump that mess all over your food

demonardvark

A vast majority of the truffle oil sold is synthetic. It isn't even flavored with real truffles.

Good Luck Eating Them Now, Everybody

Tiny round tomatoes. I don't hate tomatoes, but I don't like those tiny little b-tches popping in my mouth.

d-ck_peen

Aww, it's just like eating a pregnant spider.

disposable-name

I was thinking more like the jolly rancher story but this also makes me hate those even more.

Brancher

Ah...Yeah. Yeah That Checks Out

Hair

TheAriesDom

Oh god, not too long ago, I made a sandwich, bit into it, and pulled out a very long hair that was baked into the bread. My fiancee put the company on blast on Twitter, still haven't heard sh-t from them...
