People Divulge Which High School Rumors Actually Turned Out To Be Absolutely True

When I was in high school, there was a rumor that a girl had broken into a guy's locker and set his belongings on fire after he broke up with her. (I'm still not sure if that's true or not, but I remember that girl and let's just say that I wasn't a fan.) There was another rumor that one of the guys was having an affair with one of the teachers (which turned out not to be true, thank goodness, because I don't think any of my teachers were dumb enough to lose their careers over a relationship with a minor).

After Redditor RM_Fan234 asked the online community, "What was your high school 'rumor' that turned out to be true?" people shared their stories. Notice a certain theme?

"The English teacher was married..."

The English teacher was married to the gym teacher and she was cheating on him with the principal.

"Everyone knew..."

A student and teacher were dating. Everyone knew it wasn't a rumor, and it was VERY CONFIRMED recently when they got married on The Drew Barrymore Show.

Annnnd I found it!

"I'm pretty sure..."

As cliche as it sounds, the AP chemistry teacher actually was a drug dealer. He was arrested a few years after I graduated. I'm pretty sure that it was mostly pot that he got caught with, but still.

"The head cheerleader..."

The head cheerleader and quarterback were a couple. They tried doggie in the back of his truck. He pulled out, and she had massive diarrhea all over the interior of his truck. That stink never came out.

Oh, dear.

Something tells me she never lived that one down.

"Turns out..."

There was a rumor going around for a while that I was a lesbian. Turns out they just knew before I did.

Funny how that works!

And yes, that's often how it works out.

"There was always this rumor..."

There was always this rumor that our principal had a liquor bottle in his desk drawer. Fast forward a few years and he got a DUI, lost his license for a year, and had to apologize in front of the whole school.

"The band director..."

The band director had a very brief affair with an 18-year-old senior. He immediately regretted it and admitted it, and lost his job, naturally.

"He survived..."

Rumor: A kid accidentally cut his hand off with a hatchet at a Work Day for his youth group and bled to death.

Reality: He cut his hand off while cutting wood at home with...I think it was a handsaw or something? He survived but he had a prosthetic.

"He got caught again..."

We had a math teacher and a gym teacher that slept with a few girls. Only the math teacher got caught. He got busted in his classroom during school hours. He didn't get in any trouble, they just transferred him to the other high school in our district. He got caught again at the other high school and the girl's parents pressed charges

What IS it with teachers sleeping with their students?

I don't get it, personally. Date people your own age––you'll have a much better time and you won't run afoul of the law.

Turns Out Trump Had Another Alternate Name For The Gulf Of Mexico—And Yep, That Tracks

President Donald Trump had people rolling their eyes after he told Fox News host Maria Bartiromo that he had a different rebrand in mind for the Gulf of Mexico but that he ultimately "decided not to do it."

On the first day of his second term in office, Trump signed an executive order changing the "Gulf of Mexico" to the "Gulf of America." The order also reversed an Obama-era decision and changed the name of the Alaskan mountain "Denali" back to "Mount McKinley."

People Are Convinced JD Vance Is Cursed Following Hungary's Election Result—And They've Got A Point

Social media users are convinced Vice President JD Vance is cursed after Hungarian voters turned out to end Prime Minister Viktor Orban's rule in its latest election.

Orbán's 16 years in power are over after losing to Péter Magyar of the center-right Tisza party, which is on course for 138 seats, with Orbán's Fidesz on 55. Orbán's loss came mere days after Vance traveled to Budapest and voiced the Trump administration’s support for Orbán ahead of the vote.
