Video Captures Relieved Passengers Cheering After Pilot Lands Plane With Engine That Exploded

A Boeing 777-200 operated by United Airlines was headed to Honolulu on Saturday when the unthinkable happened; one of its engines exploded mid-flight.

The explosion was captured in multiple dramatic photos and videos from on-board the aircraft as well as from folks on the ground.

Debris from the engine was scattered over multiple locations in Colorado, and miraculously, no one was hurt. The aircraft was quickly diverted to make an emergency landing in Denver. When the aircraft landed safely, the passengers burst into applause.

People were shocked at how lucky those on the ground and in the air were.

Others couldn't imagine what it must have been like for those on board.

And most expressed their gratitude for the entire team that made the safe landing possible.

The FAA is investigating the incident.
