Paddington Bear Chastised By Upset Fans After Pulling Off The Cruelest Of April Fools' Day Pranks

Paddington Bear Chastised By Upset Fans After Pulling Off The Cruelest Of April Fools' Day Pranks
Warner Bros.

So many of us dread the arrival of April for one simple reason: April Fool's Day.

We've been shocked, disappointed, roasted, or even had our feelings hurt a few too many times by this very silly holiday.

But a certain Peruvian-English bear decided to dip his paw into the jar of pranks anyway.

For anyone who's unfamiliar with this sweet little guy, Paddington Bear was created by children's book author, Michael Bond, from the UK, and he was featured in Warner Bros' Paddington in 2014 and the sequel in 2017.

Paddington was born in Peru with his bear family, and he later traveled to London. He was discovered in London's Paddington Station, where the Brown family took him home and later adopted him. They named him "Paddington" for where they found him, because his Peruvian name was too difficult for them to pronounce.

Both heart-warming and constantly getting into trouble, Paddington is much-loved by families all across the world, in the UK and the US in particular.

Like our most-loved bear figures, like Winnie the Pooh and Nickelodeon's Little Bear, Paddington loves sweet treats. But nothing compares to his love of orange marmalade.

In fact, the bear's motto is quite simple:

"A wise bear always keeps a marmalade sandwich in his hat in case of emergency."

So when Paddington of all people... or, bears... announced that he didn't like marmalade anymore?

You guessed right: It was absolute mayhem on Twitter.

Some had to know whether the sweet bear was being serious and just joking around.

Others were thoroughly worked-up at the "news."

When people started to figure out it was a prank, they expressed relief.

Though it got Twitter all worked up for a while, this tweet was a great example of how good-natured April Fool's Day can be. It creates a little tension but ultimately leaves no hurt feelings in its wake.

We hope Paddington enjoyed the day with a nice marmalade sandwich and hopefully no additional trouble, since he caused enough of it on the social media platform.

Democratic Rep. Jamie Raskin Hit With Pushback After Offering Surprising Invite To MTG

Georgia MAGA Republican Representative and QAnon conspiracy theorist Marjorie Taylor Greene has found herself on the wrong side of MAGA Republican President Donald Trump, but on the right side of history when it comes to protecting women and children from sexual predators.

The split began in earnest with MTG's support of Kentucky Republican Representative Thomas Massie's discharge petition to force a House vote on Massie's bill, cosponsored by California Democratic Representative Ro Khanna: HR 185, the Epstein Files Transparency Bill.

'Shark Tank' Star Dragged After Whining About How Mamdani Hasn't Made Things 'Free' In NYC Yet

Billionaire former Shark Tank star Kevin O'Leary was criticized after sarcastically lamenting during a Fox Business interview that he expected "free" buses, meals and lodging after Zohran Mamdani was elected mayor of New York City—completely ignoring the fact that Mamdani isn't in office yet.

Mamdani won this month's election to become the next mayor of New York City, successfully weathering Islamophobic and racist attacks. The win marked a turning point in U.S. politics—Mamdani is a democratic socialist preparing to lead the global financial capital—and sent shockwaves around the world.
