The actor previously faced some backlash for encouraging Spears to get a prenup ahead of her wedding to Sam Asghari—but now her comment seems especially prescient.

Actor Octavia Spencer took a lot of heat for suggesting in an old comment on Britney Spears' Instagram that she make sure to get Sam Asghari, her then husband-to-be, to sign a prenup before Spears married him.

Now, as Spears is divorcing Asghari, Spencer's advice appears prescient.

As Spears and Asghari prepare to end their marriage, Spencer's comment resurfaced online, with many praising Spencer's practical advice that may have helped Spears save her own fortune.

Some takes don't age well. This one tho...

Folks were hopeful that Spears listened back then.

It's just common sense, really.

Spears likely would have gotten a prenup anyway, some suspected.

Meanwhile, others were remembering how Spencer got backlash for even pointing out that Spears might want to get a prenup.

Even now, Spencer has continued her helpful commentary on Spears' and Asghari's divorce proceeding, warning Spears that Asghari's threats right now count as extortion.

Spears and Asghari were married for 14 months after meeting on the set of Spears' "Slumber Party" music video in 2016.

Asghari proposed in September 2021 after Spears' conservatorship was successfully ended, and the two were hitched at an intimate ceremony in June 2022.

Sarah Michelle Gellar? More like "Sarah Dead Gellar."
