Florida Town Removes Personalized 'TRUMP 2020' Brick from Public Walkway After Backlash

Not just another brick in the wall.

A pro-Trump personalized brick has been removed from a public walkway in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.

The walkway on Flagler Avenue is decorated with personalized bricks and has been for over three decades. Most of the bricks are from family members expressing love for each other or for the New Smyrna Beach community. Afien Casey paid $95 to dedicate a brick to her grandson, but a message included with it stood out.

The brick read in part:

"TRUMP 2020

DRAIN SWAMP"

"I can't believe it! Nobody called me to say that there was any problem," Casey told News 6. "I didn't know."

As a result of the confusion, the Flagler Avenue Business Association said it would be reexamining its guidelines regarding messages on personalized bricks.

One representative said:

“These updated guidelines will reinforce the program's original intent. Once the guidelines have been established, implementation will be expected to occur immediately."

People were torn in regards to whether the business association made the right move.

Some applauded the decision.

Others criticized the decision, falsely claiming that it's a violation of freedom of speech, despite the move having nothing to do with the government.

Casey said the brick was ultimately meant to express her love for her grandson, Brandon, who calls her "Oma."

"I love President Trump too," Casey clarified.

The Cast Of 'School Of Rock' Just Reunited For The Wedding Of Two Of The Film's Young Stars

Weddings: one of the places where folks from your backgrounds can get together, meet one another, catch up with family, and....sing a song in tribute to the hit movie the couple were in as kids?

Okay, that last one might be just for Angelo Massagli and Caitlin Hale, who were in the movie School of Rock in 2003 together. They played school kids to Jack Black's oddball and inspirational teacher, and many of the cast were in attendance at the wedding.

Gavin Newsom Shames Trump For 'Politicizing' Los Angeles Fires In Powerful Clip

After President-elect Donald Trump spread lies about the ongoing Los Angeles wildfires, blaming California Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom for the destruction, Newsom addressed the matter on CNN, telling Anderson Cooper that Trump "wanted to politicize" the disaster even as people flee and lose their lives.

Deadly wildfires in Los Angeles County remain largely uncontained, with officials reporting at least five confirmed fatalities so far. However, on Thursday, authorities admitted, “frankly, we don’t know” the true extent of the death toll. Evacuation orders are currently affecting nearly 180,000 residents, as thousands of homes and buildings have been destroyed.
