Mike Pence Just Launched 'Latinos for Trump' in Florida, and It's as Cringey as It Sounds

Mike Pence Just Launched 'Latinos for Trump' in Florida, and It's as Cringey as It Sounds
Fox News/YouTube

Yikes.

Hopping onto stage to the strains of the Free song "All Right Now"—the rock music choice and song lyrics making everything a bit more awkward—Vice President Mike Pence launched the Latinos for Trump coalition campaign initiative in Miami, Florida.

Pence came to the podium to exclaim:

"Hola, Miami!"

The VP added:

"It is great to be back in the Sunshine State for the 2019 kick-off of Latinos for Trump!"

You can watch his opening remarks here.

Trump campaign officials indicated before the Orlando MAGA rally that launched the 2020 Trump/Pence campaign that Florida would be testing ground for their Latinx voter outreach. It's a better place than other states with high Latinx voting bases.

Many found the "hola" to be pandering.

Reactions online to the Latinos for Trump launch were less than favorable.

Some did not believe the authenticity of widespread support for Pence or Trump among Latinx voters.

Some responded in a language Pence could understand. Maybe.

"No chingues con tu 'hola'."
"Don't with your hello."

"La Madre que lo parió"
"Mother of God..."

"Nothing says Latino Voter like Mike Pence, que maldita broma"
"Nothing says Latino Voter like Mike Pence, what a darn joke"

Considering the record of the Trump administration for most people of color, women, LGBTQ people, religions other than Christian...many found the idea of Latinos for Trump absurd.

Colin Jost Read Some NSFW Jokes On 'SNL' About Wife Scarlett Johansson—While She Watched

Saturday Night Live's "Weekend Update" with co-anchors Colin Jost and Michael Che continued their annual year-end tradition of reading each other's jokes about them live on air, and it was about as jaw-droppingly hysterical as ever.

Before the segment began, Jost apologized in advance that Che was having him tell "some racist jokes like he always does," to which Che feigned innocence by putting his hand to chest, as if he would do such a thing.

Elon Musk Schooled After Comparing Obama-Era Democrats To Far-Right German Party

Billionaire Elon Musk was criritized after he attempted to equate the far-right Alternative for Deutschland (AfD) party to Democrats at the beginning of Barack Obama's presidency, and was swiftly fact-checked—even by X's own AI chatbot.

Afd is known for its opposition to the European Union (EU) and immigration to Germany. The party presented itself as an economic liberal, soft Euroskeptic and conservative movement upon its establishment in 2013 but has since moved further to the right, expanding its policies under successive leaderships to include opposition to immigration, Islam, and the EU.
