George Conway Can't Stop Retweeting All the Ways In Which Donald Trump's Attorney General Nominee Contradicted Trump During His Confirmation Hearing

It was a lot.

George Conway, the husband of presidential counselor Kellyanne Conway, is no fan of President Donald Trump, as he makes clear on Twitter virtually every day.

Now, as the nation grapples with yet another confirmation hearing––this one for the William Barr, the president's nominee to be the nation's Attorney General––he's taken to retweeting all the ways Barr has contradicted Trump, an indication that Barr won't necessarily be the rubber stamp for the president's proposals that many critics have been nervously expecting.

For example, Conway retweeted the following message from CNN reporter Manu Raju, who noted that Barr agreed with former Attorney General Jeff Sessions' decision to recuse himself from Special Counsel Robert Mueller's Russia probe.

Conway also retweeted news of Barr's opening statement to lawmakers, in which he assured them he would not interfere with Mueller's investigation...

...as well as news of the moment Barr told Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) that he "would not allow a U.S. attorney to be fired for the purpose of stopping an investigation."

He also retweeted political commentator Chris Cillizza, who quoted Barr's praise for Mueller's "straight shooter" approach to his work.

Barr also described joining Trump's defense team as "sticking my head into that meat grinder," according to CNN's Jim Sciutto, a statement Conway couldn't help but amplify.

And when Barr was quoted as saying that a president who "attempts to intervene in a matter that he has a personal stake in" would be breaching "his constitutional duty," Conway had the following response:

More contradictions came in the form of footage from the hearing itself, which Conway was all too happy to share.

"We live in a time when the country is deeply divided," Barr said at one point. "In the current environment, the American people have to know that there are places in the government where the rule of law, not politics, holds sway."

Conway made headlines this week after he said nothing Trump says "can be taken at face value."

Conway was responding to a tweet from former U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara, who called it a "disgrace" that Trump acts in "a way to necessitate" reporters asking him if he's working on behalf of the Russians.

This came after the New York Times confirmed the FBI "became so concerned by the president’s behavior that they began investigating whether he had been working on behalf of Russia against American interests."

Conway's dislike for the president is particularly striking considering his marriage to perhaps the White House's most high profile communications associate (Kellyanne Conway entered the term "alternative facts into common parlance.) He once quoted Trump himself, saying that the nation would benefit from having a leader “capable of comprehending what it means to ‘take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed.”

Last April, Second Nexus reported Conway purged his Twitter feed of posts that were critical of the president. When asked why he said there was “no good reason.” We doubt Conway's walking back any of his criticisms anytime soon.

Dems Blast ICE After 5-Year-Old Minnesota Boy Is Detained On His Way Home From Preschool

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Illinois Democratic Senator Tammy Duckworth were among the Democrats who condemned ICE after agents detained 5-year-old Liam Ramos and his father on their way home from preschool in the Minneapolis area.

Ramos is the fourth student from the Columbia Heights School District to be swept up in the Trump administration's nationwide immigration crackdown. District officials and a family attorney confirmed the boy and his father are in custody at an ICE facility in Texas.

Karoline Leavitt Gives Bonkers Excuse After Trump Is Spotted With Massive Bruise On His Left Hand

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt was called out after she gave a dubious excuse for what happened to President Donald Trump after he was spotted at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, on Thursday with a large bruise on his left hand.

Last year, rumors swirled that Trump was on his deathbed after he wasn't seen for several days and the White House cancelled his public appearances, a development that fueled speculation in large part because of Trump's recent health problems, which include a diagnosis of chronic venous insufficiency and sightings of a harsh bruise on his right hand.
