They went there.

It was nearly two years ago that chaos descended upon Charlottesville, Virginia when antifascist protestors clashed with Nazis and White Supremacists at the now-infamous Unite the Right rally. One Nazi is set to serve two life sentences in prison for driving his vehicle into a crowd of protestors, killing one and injuring others. Trump's infamous response? There were some "very fine people on both sides."

In response to the event, Stern, a top German news magazine founded in 1948, featured Trump on its cover giving the Nazi salute with an American flag draped over him.

Two years later, the cover is going viral again after President Donald Trump's racist tirades against four Democratic congresswomen of color and heightened attention on squalid conditions at border detention facilities.

The description for the article reads:

"Neo Nazis, Ku Klux Klan, racism: How Donald J. Trump is protecting hate in America."

While an American publication calling Trump a Nazi would generally discredit its argument, many noted how seriously these comparisons are regarded in Germany, and that maybe we should listen.

Trump has yet to recede in his attacks against the four lawmakers—Congresswomen Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Ilhan Omar (D-MN), and Rashida Tlaib (D-MI). He recently tweeted that the women were "incapable of loving their country."

What a harrowing time.
