Betsy DeVos Just Said She Was Glad to be Education Secretary 'Most Days' and Now Everyone's Making the Same Joke

Betsy DeVos Just Said She Was Glad to be Education Secretary 'Most Days' and Now Everyone's Making the Same Joke

Cue the eyerolls.

Days after national outcry against her proposed defunding of the Special Olympics and slashes to special education programs, Education Secretary Betsy DeVos sat down for a conversation with Jay Nordlinger of the National Review for the publication's annual Ideas Summit.

Nordlinger, after asserting that he was glad DeVos is Education Secretary, asked DeVos if she felt the same.

She replied:

"I am indeed. Yes, most days I am."

Watch below:

DeVos's tenure as Education Secretary has been fraught with missteps and panned for horrendous policy proposals like making it harder for sexual assault victims on college campuses to get justice and cutting student loan forgiveness.

As a result, many made it clear that DeVos and Nadlinger were the only ones "glad" about DeVos's appointment.

Others were critical of Nadlinger's questioning.

And, of course, they weren't happy with DeVos's performance.

They questioned why she was in the position in the first place.

At least she's happy with herself.

Donald Trump invited widespread mockery after imposing tariffs not just on some of America's biggest trading partners—but on uninhabited islands as well, namely the Heard and McDonald Islands, which had 10% tariffs levied against them despite having no actual human populations to speak of.

Trump, in his tariff announcement on Wednesday, declared April 2 as the day American industry "will be reborn," heralding what he called a "golden age of America." He emphasized that the new tariffs would not only counter foreign tariffs but also address what he described as "nonmonetary" trade barriers, including currency manipulation and "pollution havens."

Like many Gen X women, I watch a lot of true crime. In fact, that's my go-to background noise when I'm writing.
