It's hard to argue that a workout does much to honor those who died on September 11, 2001.

But that point was lost on far-right QAnon follower and Republican Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, who took to social media to announce the CrossFit workout she did Saturday to mark the 20th anniversary of 9/11.

Called "Kabul 13" in reference to the 13 people who died in a suicide bombing during the U.S. Military's exit from Afghanistan, Greene said she did the workout "in honor of all who died."

The internet was not impressed.

Greene is a longtime devotee of the grueling workout regime that mixes classic exercises like burpees with weight-lifting maneuvers like deadlifts, all done in such rapid succession that CrossFit gyms have an unofficial mascot called "Pukie the Clown."

The so-called "Kabul 13" was Saturday's "Hero Workout of the Day," or Hero WOD in CrossFit-speak, and involved 13 circuits of three taxing exercises to pay tribute to fallen soldiers.

As Greene put it:

"As a longtime CrossFitter, it's a tradition to do Hero WOD's (workout of the day) as a way to suffer and reflect on heroes... [I]t brings great humility and respect for men and women who go through the unthinkable following their orders and serving our country."

Greene, who used to own a CrossFit gym herself, has posted about the workout regime several times, most infamously when she touted it as her "protection" against the pandemic earlier this year.

Greene is something of a natural fit for CrossFit, which has had a very public reckoning with its role in leading people to the dangerous and unhinged QAnon conspiracy theory.

The organization ousted its CEO last year for promoting the conspiracy theory and has since gone on to disavow Marjorie Taylor Greene as well for her "loathsome and dangerous lies" about the pandemic and the 2020 election.

But that hasn't stopped Greene from touting the workout plan every chance she gets--even on 9/11.

For many, it was a particularly bold choice given that Greene has a history of spreading 9/11 conspiracy theories and has vigorously defended the January 6 insurrection at the Capitol that resulted in the deaths of several first responders like the ones she claimed to be honoring with her "Hero WOD."

And on social media, people wasted no time telling Greene what they thought of her attempt to honor fallen soldiers and the murder of nearly 3,000 people in a terrorist attack with a workout.

Greene may soon have an opportunity to put her House vote where her mouth is on the issue of 9/11.

Democrats in Congress have in recent days proposed new legislation to increase funding for the medical treatment of 9/11 victims and first responders—a move Republicans have repeatedly voted against in previous bills.

People Divulge The Insults That Went Way Too Far

These days, social media ignore the old adage of "If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all."

People hide behind anonymity and say cruel things about strangers they don't even know, which is extremely mean but also a cowardly way to be combative.
