Film Buffs Break Down Which Inaccuracies They Wish Movies Would Stop Perpetuating

Hollywood cuts corners for all sorts of reasons: movie pacing, difficulty dramatizing the mundane, casting logistics.

But not all the rationale in the world is enough to satisfy Reddit's frustrated movie watchers.

One thread gathered a list of all of the most heinous oversights and inaccuracies that routinely pop up in movies. Read enough of them and you'll find yourself disillusioned with many of the biggest scenes in the movies you've long loved.

Action movies are apparently the biggest culprits of glossing over the true, mundane dynamics of their subject matter. Gunfire and violence are NOT something easily shrugged off.

Missburr asked,

"Which BS information do you wish movies would stop perpetuating?"

No HIPAA for Protagonists

"That hospital employees will give out patients' private information to any rando who asks." -- guardiansofthefleet

Cracking Ribs

"CPR is way more violent and gross than in movies." -- waiting_for_rain

"It also only works like 40% of the time, and of that 40%, only about 10% of people survive long enough to be discharged. In movies they always do like 30 seconds of cpr and then they just walk away completely fine." -- ziggylmv

That High Tech Gas Station Equipment

"Zooming way in on security camera footage and it still looks perfectly clear." -- DutchessRavenwave

"ENHANCE" -- Dethmunki

Taking Gunshots in Stride

"That you can fire a gun indoors repeatedly without damaging your/other peoples hearing."

"Seems like only Archer acknowledges tinnitus."

-- Roving_Rhythmatist

The Thought of a Couch in a Dorm Room

"Movie dorms are spacious and incredibly nice apartments. Real dorms are tiny boxes with cinderblock walls and tile floors. The reason they give you twin bunks is because everything else would be way too big"

-- savagejohn827

Head Injuries are Not Bruises

"That people get knocked out and even if they're out for a few minutes they just wake up and shake their head and continue on. In reality head injuries don't work that way." -- theWendiigo

"I've never been knocked out but people I know that have describe it as the worst hangover you've ever felt, to the point of making you physically nauseous." -- IamBeefBaby

All the Necessary Pieces

"That all you need to hack is any cheap laptop, a screen with green numbers, two people using a keyboard at once and a pair of glasses." -- cupersorp

"And a hoodie" -- xviNEXUSivx

Inaccurate Action Stars

"That being thin is the same as being fit for some reason they put thin women in roles clearly suited to athletic women you can see that the muscle just isn't there even in how they move and it just really makes everything look ridiculous."

-- Kindbarbarian

An Unrealistic Rollover

"That you just fall asleep after sex while covered in sticky sweat."

"You're not doing that. You're likely going to clean yourselves up and then get in bed after eating something."

-- ApophisRises

A Few Favorites

"That a massive night of black out level drinking can be cured by a coffee."

"That people all have amazing skin. Sh!t even the characters sitting at the end of the world in Game of Thrones have great skin."

"No one gets uncomfortable while driving. Even stuck in traffic for an hour and they aren't fidgeting."

-- SirBamboozled

Conversation Over

"That no one says bye when they end a phone call. They just say their final words and hang up. I realise this is probably to save a millisecond in production but F*** it's annoying. Every time I think man that is so rude, who does that?"

"I think way too much about the background bullshit to actually enjoy movies 🤣"

-- Imfakingamnesia

Male Gaze

"Women giving birth!! It almost never comes about that rapidly (water breaks then woman is screaming / Lamaze breathing in car, etc)."

Stephen Colbert Makes Somber Plea To Americans In Wake Of Charlie Kirk's Death

Late-night host Stephen Colbert had a somber message for Americans as he addressed the assassination of far-right activist Charlie Kirk, stressing that "political violence only leads to more political violence."

Kirk died after an unidentified gunman shot him in the neck as he—ironically enough—mocked victims of gun violence at an event in Utah Valley State University. Kirk's murder has galvanized the far-right, with President Donald Trump and his surrogates claiming without evidence that rhetoric from Democrats is responsible for Kirk's death.

Woman Goes Viral After Revealing How Her Obsession With Matcha Landed Her In The Hospital

Let's be honest: Too much of anything isn't good for us. It's all about the balance!

But the media and social media trends have taught us that certain things are really good for us, encouraging us to be like the "very mindful and very demure" girls and take care of ourselves. One such example is drinking more matcha, especially if you really like coffee or think you have a caffeine addiction.
